"The trade-offs for the state are difficult."How about reducing spending? I guess that would be an even more difficult choice.

No s*** Sherlock. ECON 101.

This can not be true. Liberals tell us if taxes go down it does not benefit the economy. So if taxes go up it can not hurt the economy.
To: widowithfoursons
Moron libs will NEVER get it....Even worse, some probably DO understand that jobs will be lost, and this is EXACTLY why they support raising taxes...especially on the corporate level. Punish employers enough and they are forced to make layoffs and pay cuts to prevent bankruptcy, then of course...big brother comes in to save the day...protecting the poor destitute worker from those evil greedy capitalists who care only about money...blah blah blah. It never fails to amaze me that 50% of the population can be stupid enough to vote for democrats.

But reducing spending is equivalant to starving old people, or decreasing welfare benefits to those who are entitled to free handouts. We just can't let that happen. /sarcasm

I thought this model was interesting. I hope other states will use it.

It's their twisted way of thinking.

While the program shows an overall job loss if the sales or income taxes are raised, government employment increases under the scenarios, he said. That speaks volumes.

Not really. I could have predicted the Sun would come up today too.
You would think people would have learned from the luxury tax on boats. Sure, the rich bought the big expensive boats. However, increasing the tax on them decreases the desire to own one.
Pity about the non-wealthy that used to have jobs that would build, design, maintain, service, etc., the boats that are no longer desired by the rich.

We are looking at trying to get TABOR passed..it will be hard with all 3 branches controled by the pro-IT crowd.

"It never fails to amaze me that 50% of the population can be stupid enough to vote for democrats." At least 3 generations of indoctrination in our publik skools have a lot of people brainwashed. Not to mention the fact, these people believe they deserve handouts from the government - entitlement mentality has been successful for the liberals. We've got a lot of work to do to educate our kids.
To: Indy Pendance
Hmmmmm.....maybe someone should show this to Gray Davis and the Democrats in California. Not that they would listen ...

Can you explain what TABOR is?
To: Indy Pendance
Isn't funny how knowledge we (Freepers) take for granted is such a great revelation to "Policy Groups" and "Researchers".
Others I can think of:
Boys are built differently than Girls
Drinking/Drugging during pregnancy can have detrimental effects upon the fetus.
Speeding on icy roads results in more accidents.
Working for pay builds more self esteem than living on the public dole.
Liberals lack depth of thought.
Any others?

It never fails to amaze me that 50% of the population can be stupid enough to vote for democrats. They're not stupid at all. They're getting exactly what they want. That 50% of the population pays less than 4% of all income tax collected. They know what they're doing

It never fails to amaze me that 50% of the population can be stupid enough to vote for democrats. Actually only about 20% of the population vote demo.
20% vote Repub.
60% said eff it.
That is the problem.

But...But, someone must be lying. The Dems tell us that tax cuts won't create jobs... But this says that tax increases take away jobs.... I guess the only way to create jobs is if the government does it.
