FRist is on CSPAN2... Many concerns have been resolved and we are very close to working out an agreement on the resolution spending. Hope to finish issues off by tomorrow morning.

The only reason the Dems let us keep our 50/50 funding in the last Congress was their GUILT at having stolen the majority away from the will of the people by subterfuge and betrayal.

I say offer them 60/40 and that's our final offer.

Isn't that a senior senator kind of thing?

She can raise money. That's really the key to getting good committee assignments. Same as in the House--Pelosi is the Minority Leader because she's got a safe seat and raises money for other members.

The filibuster rule should be changed...it frustrates the Constitution itself. Any rule that frustrates the constitution should be deemed unconstitutional. The constitutional provision that the Senate make its own rules cannot possibly mean that the rules that they make can frustrate other clear provisions of the constitution.

Reid is up, he looks like he may have had his a$$ handed to him, and is sounding conciliatory. He says it is up to FRist and Daschle to finish this thing up.

"She's on the Senate Armed Services Committee?? How did that happen??? Isn't that a senior senator kind of thing?"

She'll need the experience as 'commander in chief.'

It would be a big mistake for the Democrats to try this. It would be a bigger mistake for Republicans to give an inch. This fight will be easy for Republicans to win, if they have even the weakest, most deteriorated shards of a spine.

I predict the Senate will take off all week for Martin King Day, and nothing will be done. The impasse will continue indefinitely. The Senate wouldn't dare be in session on a holiday. Imagine the outcry in the black community. That seems to be what Republicans fear most: outcry in the black community.

"We are only asking for what we offered the Republicans the last time the Senate was 51 to 49," Reid said on the Senate floor.

Did the Democrats win an election giving them a MAJORITY?

Were their 51 "D" Senators?

ANSWER: NO

They hijacked the Senate when Jeffords made a deal with them, giving them a plurality! That did NOT entitle them to the 2/3 funding.

NICE TRY 'RATS!

The free-flowing intelligence pipeline from Washington to the ChiComs and unknown others dried up a couple of years ago. So they built another one.
