"I accept the fact that it's possible someone wanted that baby. But anyone who was serious about it probably would have known it was risky to induce labor early, and certainly risky to try to "cut out" the baby. "
I do hope that I am wrong about someone wanting this child of Laci Peterson's. I also pray that it was not her husband who commited this foul play of her disappearance.

His family says that for him to go fishing alone is not unusual. Good. No new patterns to suggest something fishy (pun intended). But the very fact that he would do that suggests to me that he is not the nicest or most considerate person in the world.
When my wife was 8 months pregnant I looked for excuses to get away from her, i.e. going fishing, hunting, going for a walk on the moon. She was like a wounded tiger during that time and I could do nothing right. If I called from work she would chew me out. If I asked how she was doing she would chew me out. If I kept quiet she would chew me out. It was MY fault that she lost her "girlish figure." It was MY fault that she got stretchmarks. It was MY fault that her mammaries started to sag. In the delivery room she was cursing me out because it was MY fault that she was in so much pain. She shouted things like, "You no good son-of-a-b****, do you see what YOU are putting ME through?" As if SHE had absolutely NO responsibility.
All of this came from the mouth of a woman who professed to me, early on in our relationship, that her only desire in life was to raise children and have a family!
If Laci is/was anything like my wife I can understand why he would want to go fishing or find ANY excuse at all to get away from her for awhile. :-)

Not so far fetched.
A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine in the Los Angeles area, who happens to be 9 months along in her pregnancy, was kidnapped and held for 8 hours by a crazy woman who wanted to kill her and take her baby. I'm afraid that sort of incident occurs more often than we like to think.
I still haven't ruled out the husband in my mind. He was the last one to see her, was gone all day (on Christmas Eve), and had a fairly weak alibi. It could be that he killed her accidentally (or on-purpose) and concocted this "fishing" story as a way to cover his tracks. All he had to do was place her body in the back of his boat with the rest of his fishing supplies and release the dog before he left. The body could have been hidden along the route or thrown overboard as he was fishing.
I think the fact that the police haven't ruled him out means that they suspect wrong doing, of this nature, on his part.

You bring up a good point. I see that you lived through it!:) I think there's a lot of possibilities here.

my husband went elk hunting when I was a good 8 plus months along...of course, you guessed it.....daddy had to come running home....but I don't consider my hubby an inconsiderate creep.....just not thinking at times...
my question for Scott the fisherman.....did you tell anyone that you were going fishing on Christmas Eve before Christmas Eve?
iows.....was the fishing trip planned in advance or was it a quick alibi...
no matter what....leaving the house to go do a singular activity on Christmas Eve leaves me wondering just what kind of a "nice" person Scotty is....Christmas Eve is like the most important part of our Christmas celebration...

The receipt was for a marina in San Francisco Bay where the husband said he went fishing. It's difficult to trust much of anything reported in these types of cases, but for what it's worth, it was reported on 'Hannity and Colmes' last night that the husband is an avid fisherman. Supposedly, because they were expecting a boy, even a lot of decorations in the nursery were fishing related.

It is significant that the volunteer center is at the Red Lion, where Scott has been staying 24/7 since this happened, and devoting nearly that to this case and helping the search and effort.
He is not a member of the Chattering Classes, and is a strong/silent type...Is that a capital offense?

Just throwing around possibilities:
My husband seems to work all the time. He loves to fish and hunt and goes whenever he has the opportunity. Oftentimes, the children and I join him or he'll go alone. Fortunately, I was off work the week of Christmas; however, hubby was only off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. He and our son deer hunted both days. We opened presents Christmas morning at three so they could be in the woods before sun-up.
Of course, I haven't a clue about Scott's motive for fishing that day. So much time has passed since Christmas Eve, I'm afraid the odds of Laci being found alive are diminishing daily. And I hope and pray they get the person who is responsible for her disappearance.

For the last 3 to 4 days the focus of LE seems to have been on Lake Tulloch, which relates to organized crime, to baby brokers who would have dumped Laci's body there after stripping it of her son... Tragic, but such operations DO exist.
OTOH, it does seem that baby snatchers are among the only people who still want white males.

The Petersons had been married five years, and supposedly had been seriously hoping for a baby for nearly that long.

The guy goes out all day...and didn't catch a single fish? Makes me wonder if he went up to the marina and ended up with some girlfriend.
To: crystalk
Because I would handle things differently than what he does is no reason to convict anyone. However I have not accussed him of anything; I am only suspicious! There is a difference.
Now with a suspicious mind, I would inquire of the part he is playing in the help. Is he where he can deflect information; such as tips that are coming in? Or is he just helping out where needed?
I'm still at the point you and I discussed in the beginning. The husband (I think you said 85%), the burgulars, or a stranger (small percent).

I still haven't heard of anyone seeing him anywhere along the way or at the marina. I think Greta brought that up last night too.
And they kept saying that the police needed to get a warrant to search the house. Did anyone else hear that?

And this is completely based NOT on fact but she was close to giving birth and they hadn't had any children for five years. I have to wonder if he had a last minute freak-out about the impending birth and changes that were about to occur in his life.

No, I continue to support Scott's innocence, he needs our help and prayers, and if closer, a little quiet friendship from a friend.
I am saying: Scott (accident only) 31% at most;
Baby Thief/brokers 23%;
Laci abducted by old acquaintance [may have got in car voluntarily] 23%;
Random stranger [or burglar] grabbed her on street near home or park, 23%.
I would tend to DECLINE the percentage assigned to Scott, not raise it, by 4 or 5 points a week from here on out.
