Aside from more intense scrutiny at airports, the lives of the vast majority of Americans go on just as they did before 9/11. There has been no "assault on civil liberties" by the government. If there is any more "fear" than there was two years ago, it is because of 9/11, the anthrax scare, and the DC sniper scare. Need I point out that these events were not perpetrated by the Bush administration?

Wellstone was a role model whose integrity and conscience showed us what American politics could really be like.

And that would be pretty scary.

5) Big Brother on Steroids: You'd think people would have figured it out by now: Huge government bureaucracy simply doesn't work, no matter what the ideology behind it. But the current occupants of the White House are determined to repeat grievous errors of the past. During this past year, they have created gargantuan institutions whose size and powers are unprecedented in U.S. history.

Hmmmm.....but let's put a massive bureaucracy in charge of universal healthcare, gun registration etc.

Proves to me more and more how the left cares so little for anything beyond it's own rise and conquest of power. They simply cannot see things as rights or as correct unless it favors their own point of view.

It's very strange to me. The left claims to fight fascism yet champions making thoughts a crime(hate crimes, speech codes in Europe), pledges to ensure equality while making most of the populace directing dependent upon government, want severe restriction on citizen firearms possesion yet whispers about a need for revolution. They fear big government when wielded by those they disagree with yet they build the very government institutions that are ripe for abuse. I just don't understand that.

I started to read this article in print today. I wasn't able to get through more than two sentances before my thoughts drifted to lining the kitty-cat box.....
