and no this isn't an oldie but goodie, its disgusting and new!
A Republican senator wants to establish a temporary congressional committee on race relations that will address such issues as a national apology for racial segregation, construction of a black history museum on the National Mall and reparations for slavery.

"Here is the issue, its called Racist Democrats."Yes, it is. When I first read this, I was shocked. However, if this is done correctly, it could be very interesting.

"The only reason the Republicans are allowed to be in power is so that they can accomplish things the Democracts would not be allowed to get away with. Forty-some years of pannels was enough. This isn't about race--it's about communism and The Third Way--which is the real party both Democrat and Republican leadership belong to."
Amen.

I'm willing to give Brownback's suggestions some time to jell. Republicans cower and run scared whenever the issue of race is mentioned. By doing so, they look guilty and reluctant to tackle the issue head-on.
Brownback seems to be saying, in essence, bring it on. let's lay all the cards on the table and see what they show.
Brownback or any conservative for that matter, does not support quota, reparations and the continuation of the failed social programs that have contributed to the breakdown of the black family.
I think the goal here is to stand up, take the heat, appear to be reaching out in friendship, willing to discuss the issues and come to some resolution and understanding.
Liberals don't want discussion, understanding and resolution on the race issue. They just want to demogogue it like they demogogue most other major issues (Medicare, SS, taxes, war on terrorism, economy).
Brownback's move will expose to clear view the fact that liberals want to keep the issue unresolved, so as to continue to demogogue it.
The Emperor may be shown to, once again, have no clothes.

Free black slaveowners resided in states as north as New York and as far south as Florida, extending westward into Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Missouri. According to the federal census of 1830, free blacks owned more than 10,000 slaves in Louisiana, Maryland, South Carolina, and Virginia. The majority of black slaveowners lived in Louisiana and planted sugar cane. The majority of black masters had not been slaves themselves.
