EASY to figure whom the goobermint fears......eh?

"Let me explain it to you."You didn't 'splane poop there. My birth certificate and a DD-214 is all I need to understand the 2nd. Amendment. LEO's know this....you beg for your rights....I WILL defend mine.

"S.O.S - Be sure and try the "natural rights" argument on the next Judge or JOP you meet after getting picked up for illegally packing, and see how much sympathy you get."Skru sympathy.....ENFORCE THE BILL OF RIGHTS.

I had seriously considered getting a CCW permit till I saw this. Now I doubt I ever will. Why would a published list matter to those who have CCW permits?

Why would a published list matter to those who have CCW permits? Why would German citizens have been opposed to wearing the Star of David in public if they were in fact Jewish??
To: sam_paine
No one is gassing gun owners. Again, why would CCW permit holders mind being listed, as if there was some shame to carrying around a pistol?

Again, why would CCW permit holders mind being listed, as if there was some shame to carrying around a pistol? To name just a couple of reasons, perhaps these people don't like having personal information shared with the public, or don't like the possibility of being harassed by mindless anti-gunners or crazies?

Apparently, it wasn't explained enough.
So since I don't know how to explain the baby steps approach to you. Suppose you explain how you are getting your Second Amendment Rights back.
I'm waiting patiently.

So the infinite plethora of mighta coulda woulda and what-if scenarios are enough to guide public policy?
To: sam_paine
From a moral perspective, I completely agree with you.
However, you had better be careful playing games with the license nazi's. You sign the form to get your license under penalty of perjury.
I don't know if masking your fingerprint is mentioned in the fine print anywhere, but it's a Class C Felony if you sign that it's complete and accurate and it turns out not to be.

I honestly don't know why it's necessary.
Seems to me that the only people faithfully observing the law are the people who are faithfully observing the law. Criminals will carry regardless.

WHAT!?!?!?!?!??! The "F" are they thinking.
How about telling the public when/where the cops will be doing their patrols.

PS: I don't know if you are aware of this (probably but, maybe not) but you can pick up a copy of the "tradin post" or most any classified's for that matter and just find a gun and go buy it.. Just like a lawnmower or anything else.
Then, if being a criminal doesn't bother you.. Just stick it in your waistband and carry it.
Looks like the news paper has just arbitrarily listed a bunch of decent, law abiding citizens.
I don't know what they hope to gain by doing this.

So the infinite plethora of mighta coulda woulda and what-if scenarios are enough to guide public policy?Actually, I fail to understand the concerns myself.
Now, if I wasn't a CCW holder in the Winchester area, I'd be extremely PO'd, because the newspaper just told the criminal element that I'm probably a safe target to rob :o)

No one is gassing gun owners. (Yet.)
If we have a right to carry arms, then we have a right to carry one without a CCW "permit." So there can be no good reason to accept a permit from the government unless you accept the whole bargain, including their right to revoke that permit.
I repeat, a government makes lists only of bad people, and potential "bad" people.

While I quite agree that this constitutes an invasion of privacy and is very definitely ill-intended, I kind of wish some local rag would do that around here (Seattle). For one thing, it'd be a very, very long list (Washington is a shall-issue state). For another some very, er, "progressive" citizens' names would be on it. For a third, I WANT people to know I like firearms, like shooting, and carry when I feel like it, which is quite unpredictable (to goblins, at least). I am very outspoken about my preferences whenever it seems necessary. If I could carry legally openly and on my hip I'd do it. Don't really see why I can't, but I'll put up with that silly-ass rule until I can legally change it. If I thought it wouldn't be an act of potential liability folly, I'd have a sign on my door "break on in, come on down, owner is armed and needs the target practice." Of course, I'd have it in Spanish and Chinese and Estonian as well - I wouldn't want anyone to think I wasn't multicultural...
To: Billthedrill
I suppose you could turn it around and call it a list of potential targets for anyone who wants to steal weapons.
Anybody I ever met with a CCW has more than one gun.

You sign the form to get your license under penalty of perjury.I honestly did not perjure myself. I did exactly as asked...and I work with cements and putty all the time. They didn't complain that my print was dirty, and I didn't argue.
Obviously, the real test will come (or not) when they call me back and say "hey wait a minnit mr smart guy..."
At that point, then I'll have my real test for "compliance." But until then, I think I have done my tin-foilly peace of mind a great deal of good because I now KNOW that indeed they haven't tried to do anything nefarious with my print or they woulda come bitchin at me by now.
To: Jhoffa_
By the way. That also brings up the converse. If they obviously haven't digitized the scan yet for comparisons of any kind (or they woulda noticed) then why the hell are they collecting prints? Hobby?
