Its still discrimination based on race or skin color. How about a system like this? Admit those with the best academic qualifications and don't take race or skin color into account.

Just say you're "African-American" and/or Latino. They cannot prove you're not. Sue them if they try.

What would really work is if the alumni stopped donating until this policy changes.

They could take skin color out of the equation completely if they sought economic, rather than racial, diversity. This would naturally give a hand to all people of limited means, be they from inner-city Detroit or a dusty trailer park outside of Texarkana. More important still would be ideological diversity, but we all know that idea will get nowhere.

This is why I think younger people are more conservative, older grey haired liberals are dying off and younger people are angry as heck about this stuff.

It is women and the now gang that co-opted the civil rights acts. By making themselves a minority, women (black and white) have effectively elbowed out black and white men from the level playing field.....

Since the gutless wonder cheerleader is no long senate majority leader, i wish the pubs would drive home some points:
- rats believe minorities+affirmative action=a white person where pubs believe all are created equal under law
- pubs passed the civil rights bill over the objection of the rats
- pubs are trying to pass school vouchers, helping minorities, while rats are blocking it and keeping minorites down in a failing union-run school system
- strom thurmond was rat when he ran for prez in '48
- rats are socialists using class warfare to help "the right people"
i think these talking points would help the rats
define themselves and, hence, be rejected by America.

Yes, I already posted them. He's already folded like a cheap rubber duck in a bathtub full of squishy compassionate conservatism. That's why Rush was encouraging him to stiffen up that spine of his. Only problem is, Bush doesn't have one. It's jello.
Bush Administration Defends Affirmative Action

Somebody wants to stir the soup a little prior to the Supes taking up the cases. Lott screwed Bush big time, because now Bush has to keep a low profile on this stuff.

Thanks, I forget about that day! Seems like ages ago.

One such service in Manhattan, known as Ivy Wise, charges $29,000 for its top junior-senior package. (The company also counsels several minority applicants without charge.) And embedded in the story on discrimination is yet another story on discrimination...

undergraduate policy at Michigan, where black and Hispanic applicants are given a 20-point bonus on a 150-point evaluation scale. This would be illegal in California, thanks to the equal rights initiative passed by the voters.

"Those kids seemed somehow to us to add qualities to the class that your son or daughter did not, which only may mean that your son or daughter was like 75 percent of the class that we've already admitted." When the list of "qualities" that they are looking at consist largely of race, residency, and parental education, one can only assume that they believe in stereotypes and profiling. In other words, they believe that a handful of superficial qualities essentially make on person interchangable with another. Do they also believe that being a middle-Eastern male aged 18-39 makes a person have the same qualities as a terrorist or being a black male born to a single mother who is a high-school drop out make them interchanable with other similar blacks who are criminals? Or could it be possible that each person brings unique qualities to a college regardless of their race or background?

There were some weak excuses about the Transportation Dept case, something along the lines of having to continue the Govt's case as started by the previous administration. For the Supreme Court's upcoming review of the Michigan cases, however, there is no such fig leaf. GWB's brief on this one is due in 12 days. If he fails again, conservatives need to brand this administration Clinton Term 3 and walk away from it.

So she abandoned her dreams because she didn't get into a school? I'm glad somebody else caught that.
