Here's a link to how the congress and senate stand on the issue right now.
Scoreboard
Looks good in the congress but troubling in the senate.

That's the point I'm always trying to make and I sound like a broken record.
I don't care what gun group a gunowner belongs to and we especially have to learn to work together.
The come back I use on hunters is hunting will be banned a lot faster than Camp Perry or the Olympics.

Glad that you like the pic. Feel free to use it as you want.

Maybe CBS will revive the old documentary "The Guns Of Autumn". Do you all remember that, from the mid-late 70's? As a high school student at the time, I think that that program was probably what caused me to start opening my eyes to the world of politics and media bias.

Don't forget your bolt action "sniper" rifles.
Although I think it is a little early to start pounding the politicians about the renewal of the crime bill, it is not too early to start formatting letters and thinking about what we are going to say and do.

Gun control has nothing to do with crime control. Of course it does. Removing guns from private citizens, and outlawing theier use in self defence, increases crime. The word control doesn't mean nescessarily reduction. It means direction, which could be etiher up or down.

Show the picture of Chuckie Schumer with the Tec-9 and Feinstein with the AK and ask, Why is OK for them to have them and not OK for us? That'd be sweet. I'd consider extending the concept to outdoor advertising as well. I'm thinking of *big* billboards in high-traffic areas.
To: Ouachita
I think I recall reading about the documentary but I gave up watching CBS a long time ago except for "CSI" and even that is getting hoky with outrageous plots and solutions.

One billboard next to a Washington D.C. feeway would work a lot of wonders. The anti's do it once in a while, why not us?

Looks good in the congress but troubling in the senate. Then I guess we have a lot of work to do. Jim Robinson or somebody else should organize some kind of demonstration to cajole Senators to vote aganist renewing the Sunset ban.
How does that sound?
Let's be part of history just like we were in the critical election of 2000.
To: Ouachita
That's a pretty small clip he has in his Teck-9. Mine is much longer.
To: Shooter 2.5
I hope the Republicans don't throw all that hard work away with a stroke of a pen.I hope so too, and I've made sure that my elected representatives (unfortunately all Democratic) know that this issue is critical, and will get them quite a few more votes in these districts if they were to decide to see the light.

When his father started the original AW import ban then told the NRA to drop dead he pretty much sealed his fate. Much as I may disapprove of Clinton's decision to sign the 1994 Personal Safety and Sporting Firearms Use Protection Act, he at least went through the trouble of going through Congress. Bush, by contrast, imposed his restrictions on imported nasty guns, including domestic manufacture of nasty guns from imported parts, all by executive fiat.
Let's hope the son has learned the right lessons from that [i.e. that it's dangerous, not that it's doable].

Let's hope the son has learned the right lessons from that [i.e. that it's dangerous, not that it's doable]. I doubt it. I found this press release on the whitehouse.gov site.
"In addition to strict enforcement of existing gun laws, the President supports expanding instant background checks to close the gun show loophole and banning the importation of high-capacity ammunition clips."
They could at least get their terminology right: it's magazines not clips.

I keep waiting for that "No Compromise" gun group to do it.

The reply to my e mail:
Thank you for contacting NRA-ILA. As for your questions concerning the
so-called "assault weapons" and high capacity magazines, please know
that this law sunsets September 13, 2004 when it will be up for a
revote. The original ban was part of the 1994 Crime Bill. NRA is
opposed to this ban and we have consistently supported legislation
calling for its repeal. Rest assured that NRA will remain involved in
this issue as the sunset date for this ban approaches, and will be sure
to inform you of any developments on this front.
To: Shooter 2.5
Thanks for the update. I have no doubt that the NRA will "remain involved in this issue," but just how involved remains to be seen. We need to constantly impress upon them how important this is to us.
