It is such a pretty state. The Sierra, the coast the beautiful buildings. After we get done liberating the people of Iraq maybe we should think about liberating the citizens of California. Talk about need for a regime change.

As far as I know, Santa Cruz is still "A Hate-Free Zone", thanks to legislation. It's against the law to hate--anything. Not only is it illegal to say, "I hate Bussels sprouts" or "I hate my mother-in-law or "I hate Nazis" or "Oh how I hate to get up in the morning," but it's against the law to hate such things and not say so--or to hate anything. It's the law!

Such a friendly place to run a business. Especially if you want people to show up. < /sarcasm>

Nuclear terrorists be on alert: Criminals who use or threaten to use weapons of mass destruction in the Golden State must submit their DNA to a state database. When will Grey Davis be demanding DNA samples from the leaders of China, who have threatened to nuke Kalifornia?
To: Mark
Forgot the new law requiring specific training for purchasing a handgun, which the buyer must "register". Next up: registration of current handgun owners. The legislation is already being considered for this session. Gov. Davis didn't sign it last year because of the election cycle. It's all but over for liberty in California.
Most free states to move to, anyone?

You forgot the one about the NO SMOKING WITHIN 25 feet of a playground !

Well that does it for me. I'm from the MidWest and my back yard is chock full of missile silos and ICBM's....and they are not registered with the ATF. Yup, and they are already preprogramed for the CA blue zones. Step on the wrong trip wire and whoosh KA-BOOM, NO MORE LIBERALS. sheesh !

But sometimes it is neccesary to call the rounds into your own position for the good of your own military/country. So, if it must be done, it must......

So, all fellow Californians, what's your take on the outlook for real estate here this year? My landlord died in October. His widow and brother are fighting over the estate, including the house I rent. So I was thinking of buying a house (since interest rates are so low). But housing prices are through the roof. Do you all think they will go up, stay about the same, or will the bubble burst in '03. Any and all related advice is welcome.

Oh, they do that now... ;-)

Not knowing what city you live in that is a tough question but the kid thinks the house is worth a Million while mom knows she paid $15,500 for the house back in 68. If you could get to mom you might be able to buy it for below market value and get her to carry the loan. I have done that a couple of times.

Kalifornia, land of the sleaze, home of the knave.
When the last American leaves Kalifornia, will you please bring the flag with you?

I saw some kids today outside the Post Office, roaring down the hill on skateboards. These were basic loser kids just having some relatively hazardous fun. Guaranteed, one of them will eventually crack his marginally useful brain in an accident with one of the older beer guzzling low lifes who frequent the local burrito joint next door. I explained to one of them that, as of the first of the year, their beneficent protector and friend of the children, the State of California, now legally requires them to wear helmets... or face fines of over $100 that their parents will have to pay. It's for their saaaafety.
One of the kids let out, "That sucks!"
Heheheheh
