To Mr. Freamon. Licensing of firearms is not required under the 2nd Amendment. Take 'em to court! Contact the Gun Owners of America and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership.
You have a case.

New York is freaking amazing - even if you have a carry permit for self-defense, once inside city limits, you have to have a trigger lock in place. I guess they expect you to club the attacker with it.

Whoa. The homeowner would probably have been better off by
killing the intruder, rather than just injuring him. Watch for a lawsuit from the intruder.
Several years ago, I met a man that told me of a story similar to this. He lived in a 2nd floor apartment with his 2 daughters, ages 9 and 11. He had put his girls down for the night and closed their bedroom door. Due to a warm, summer night, his air conditioner was on. After he retired for the evening, he heard a noise and went to investigate. He told me that he had a small caliber pistol in a drawer in the hallway and grabbed that. Slowly, he opened his daughters' bedroom door and saw a man dragging his daughter by the throat through the bedroom window. He aimed and shot the man right between the eyes. BOOM! Dropped him like a fly. :) He was arrested and released the next morning ONLY because his daughter had handprint marks around her throat. Justifiable homicide.
Someone tried to enter my daughters' bedroom about 7 or so years back, but were unable to open the window, and I heard him/them trying to get in. I must have frightened the intruder by turning the light on. When I called the police they told me that before I shoot anybody, I better make darn well sure that the intruder better have at least something sharp in his hand.

Volunteering for jury duty!

This reminds me of what used to be the canonical scenario for home defense.
The deal used to be: you shoot someone while they are climbing in your window. If the body falls inside, no foul -- if it falls outside, you go to jail.
I think it is actually a bit more complicated than that now(probably always was).
I recall a while back when Condon declared "open season on home intruders" here in SC. Man, was there ever a stink over that one!

I've got his defense all ready for him.
The Principle of Competing Harms.
It's already got a felon No-billed (in Milwaukee?) this year for firearm possession when he stopped a rape in progress.

Looks like he made several mistakes:
1. He shouldn't have used a .22
2. He shouldn't have called 911.
3. He shouldn't have registered the rifles.
4. He shouldn't have told reporters he's now unarmed. Unless, of course, he isn't.

I dunno.... If I was unfortunate enough to have to live in New York and I had to shoot somebody, I sure wouldn't go calling the cops. I mean, this burglar ran away - - what was the point of calling the cops?
And even if you have a body to get rid of, you can always just roll it up in a tarp and dump it somewhere. But no matter what, don't call the cops unless you are positive somebody saw you who can rat you out. This is where a "throw down" comes in handy.

That's what he deserves for living in that communist infested rathole of a state.

I'm feeling both charitable and pissed off right now. Does this man have a legal defense fund I can send money to?

OK, I'll admit ignorance in this matter. Why on earth was this man, protecting his life & property, owning legal guns, arrested?
