Actually, I agree absolutely with everything you said. I was just being onery with the Irish lady. My bad. Ever wonder why the Irish lady might be prepared to argue the toss on a predominantly American board? I don't need to be propped up. I believe in conservatism. I see disasters in the American political landscape. Point it out. And SUDDENLY I'm a stupid witch getting slurs cast at me. *LOL* I hold my own opinions. And I hold them. I won't be swayed by libertarian asses.

So YOU discourage profiling ?

Actually, I agree absolutely with everything you said. I was just being onery with the Irish lady. My bad. I firmly believe in Franklin's sage maxim about "those who trade liberty for security deserve neither". My previous posts on other threads should bear that out. I'm not one of the sheeple though sometimes I feel like the herd is going to trample me to death as I go the other way.

Franklin was a great man. His libertarian views still influence us.
I agree, the great mass of people seem to have taken well to the conditioning of our "leaders." I'm proud that you and I are not among them.

Are you talking about Benjsmin Franklin?
A member of Government?
How do you live with the anomaly?

Define 'right of privacy' for me. And counterpose that with people who aren't prepared to enter into air, or other travel, without random search.
# 578 by Happygal

The "right of privacy" is what a socialist would describe as "being un-realistic" when I said, "get your hands off me."
And, Happygal, travel is a right, too.
Since when is a random search Constitutional? Random means "without any specific reason." The Constitution says that privacy will not be violated without a specific reason.

The American airline industry is done for. Sell stock now.
I sure as hell ain't gonna fly any longer (and I'm not even pregnant - or even female).
I won't subject myself to this crap. Screw it - I'll drive.
I haven't flown since 9-11 - and have LOST business opportunites because of it. (serious $$$)
As goes the airline industry - so goes the entire damn US economy.
Screw it.
If I work harder and make more money, the bastards will just take it anyway - so screw it.

Please tell me how many pregnant Americans have highjacked planes. Come up with names and dates. Then I will concede that this is a reasonable class to profile.
It's the Middle Eastern male and the Muslim convert who get through our security lines unhindered. I would think that Bali would have convinced the likes of you that some people just plain NEED bullets in their heads. Perhaps you're just too young to remember the peak state of war your country long endured.

And, I figure. I'm not wrong
To: EricOKC
Well, well. It's been quite a day at the ole Freeper corral. I make a simple two sentence post in the morning, spend the rest of the day at a Christmas party with my family and come back to find some fellow Freepers have labeled me a "fascist" and a "hog".
Yet, in over 500 posts since, not one of you "real" conservatives has addressed the simple question I posed: How is a security agent in an airport supposed to determine if a woman is really pregnant, or has a bomb or other contraband under her clothes?
Here's a clue for you guys. The Mulim terrorist's weapon of choice is a bomb. Bombs were used on 9-11. They were used by Richard Reeves. They are used in Israel. They were used in Yemen and Kenya and Moscow and Bali. Get the picture?
The heros of Flight 93 rushed the terrorist with a bomb but could not save the plane from being blown out of the sky.
The only way our planes will be safe is to keep bombs off them. Not nail clippers, not sissors, not medals-of-honor. Bombs.
Bombs are not currently detected by security apparatus. They're not metal. The only way to find them is to pat down suspicious characters. Men and women. Arabic and not arabic.
People who get all indignant when you pat them down are suspicious. Remember the Arabic FBI agent who got all hussy because he couldn't bring his gun on a plane? What would you have done? Remember the Chechen women who brought bombs into a Moscow theater under their loose fitting burkas. What would you do to stop it?
We shouldn't have frisked them because they were "pregnant"? You loose. We're at war and the Muslim terrorists are going to eat your lunch because we have to protect the honor of "pregnant" women?
Some of you guys are great a shooting off you mouths and calling names, but you have no solutions. Tell me how you're going to keep bombs off the planes. Then I'll tell you how Achmed and Mohammed are going to blow you away.
To: Happygal
I won't be swayed by libertarian asses. Temper got the best of you?
Looks to me like you just can't stand it that there are some people out there who value liberty more than perceived "security" or "order".
That may be the way things are done in Europe, what with your history of kings & royality, fascism & communism, supra police states and a disarmed citizenry, but in the US there is a different philosophy.
That is, after all, why we had a revolution and won independence ------ to secure liberty with all its inalienable rights and to escape the oppressive European concepts of government which trample the rights of the individual for the collective or the ruling class.

The views I hold are the views that shaped my nation. Those same views were held by Englishmen even before my nation's time. The Celts held the same views, which means that your heritage and mine share the same values.
Calm down. Remember what you're fighting for.

So at the end of the day did you get the result you were looking for ?
To: exodus
And, Happygal, travel is a right, too. Saying that one has the right to travel is hardly the same as saying that one has a specific right to a particular method of traveling. Try driving around with four bald tires, no windshield, and a lapsed registration sometime, and see how well the "right to travel" argument serves you in traffic court.

And, I figure. I'm not wrong You've really lost it, haven't you. Run out of intellect so now you want to get me banned for being newly registered and not cow-towing to your ideas of "conservatism".
Tell me, how long after signing up do I have to wait before I'm allowed to post?
It's truly ironic that you call me a pinko.
BTW, Ireland and the United States are on the same side of International date-line. I signed up 12 days ago - not five (unless that's some sort of weird metric math you used to get that number).

Oh. I see. You don't know what a libertarian is, Happygal. Libertarians are not anarchists.
A libertarian believes that government attracts men who crave power, and that government attracts men who love rules. Thus, a government tends to extend beyond it's legitimate power, in order to smother any threat to both the leaders who crave power, and the followers who crave security. Government, by it's very nature, tends to become a tyranny. For that reason, government must be closely watched, and held to a written Constitution.
Civilization is not possible without law, and laws are useless without a government to enforce them. A libertarian believes that society MUST have law in order to survive, thus a libertarian believes in the rule of law.
