Deliberate misrepresentation ... First you imply those engaged in general strike are "anti-democratic" when they are not. Then I mention many instances of strikes in Democracies that had political goals/impacts (many with ill-effects) and you misrepresent this into calling Bush a dictator, when all that Bush has done is follow the Taft-Hartley act ("90 day cooling off period"). both the strikers *and* the president have acted within the law and their rights here in the US. Frankly, the West Coast strike of $100k/yr dockworkers striking to stop automation of the docks is imho a bit galling and they should allow non-union firms access to the docks, but that's a different matter. Unions and workers can and do have the right to strike.

If Chavez has some legal means to avoid the crisis that are not anti-democratic and not violent, let him excercise them. IMHO he should call early elections and sit with the opposition and end the crisis. Calling the opposition names and engaging in pathetic attempts at sophistry when you're called on it only exposes your extreme bias.

Chavez made himself dictator for life

I must have missed that. Was that before or after he said he would abide by the binding referrendum on his presidency? Where do you people come up with this rubbish. Are you all on pot?

And when I hear of Chavez cozying up to Castro, etc., I have little doubt as to who are the wolves.

Perhaps. The other side is no better, however. They are seeking to take from the streets that which they could not win at the ballot box. That is not something to support.

Your post is a good one, however.

Thanks.

When he got into office he made change in the law that basically outlawed future elections, should he choose to invoke it.

Plus this yahoo has'nt made any friends as he has run the country into the ground and tried to nationalize every industry. From what I understand his approval rating is under 30%.

as he has run the country into the ground

Not familiar with the economic figures before the political opposition began disrupting the economy, are you? Here's a hint: Venezuela was booming under Chavez early on. It wasn't until the rebels in the street decided to destroy their own economy to grab back political power that things began to go badly.

Narconews? Since this is a web page/news service/PROPAGANDA Tool for the left wing apparently supported a former "protege" of that scum Abbie Hoffman, I wouldn't even bother to considerate a reliable source.
