Ah, the ChildPorn card.

Why do you think the US hasn't stressed opium poppy eradication?

Nothing. Why do you ask?

It was your statment that they had to grow something, and if there were no demand, they wouldn't grow it. I can say the same for a lot of very despicable things. We're are not talking US - just your statement.

Yes i'll say it again.

The sensible smart thing to do is to grow opium in Afghanistan.

So is my 'child pornogaphy card', or just child prostitution, or hire out as hit men/women/children. You see are just many, many lucrative opportunities in this world -

Now if it is true that the increase in poppy cultivation is one of the consequences of our war on terrorism - we have traded one terror for another.

Stop the demand in the West. Don't blame them for having some economic smarts.

So as long as someone wants something, it is OK to provide it? Just asking.

Now really this is getting silly.

If I were in their situation (at least what I think I know of their situation), would I grow poppies to feed my family if that was the absolute only thing I could do, not just the easiest or most profitable? You bet. Would I become a hit woman? You bet. There is very little I would not do, personally, to feed my children - but since my children (grandchildren)are on this side of the equation - I don't like it. Now my grandchildren are not demanders of this thing - but they suffer because of it nonetheless. Money needed for them personally, for their education and protection is used to fight this and to care for its addicts.

I apologize profusely for seeing it from my perspective - how selfish of me.

And deflation or hyper inflation is going to hit us.

That's for sure. Probably at the same time. Only to be followed by unflation, coflation, misflation, and then... simple flation.

If you want to secure your wealth, be productive. Jobs are not handed out by the gov't or CEOs (and no, that last word does not have an apostrophe).

Rather than raving about foreigners, take a course in economics at a college nearby. Follow by basics of management: you do not seem to understand how companies work.

Here is how the "recovery" is going in the Denver area:

Denver declares emergency when Bush was elected.

Not at all. As one good textbook says, "Satisfaction is quality delivered minus quality expected."

We have become a nation of egotists with exaggerated, unreasonable expectations, hence low satisfaction despite of the great life delivered.

Right on! It's time we quit wasting billions of $ on the failed WOD. The demand will be there whether the drugs are legal or not. Make them legal...and dispensed from clinics. Make pot legal and let growers grow all they want. Let the same laws that apply to booze and cigarettes apply to pot. Let society amd families promote the benefit of NOT being on drugs. Finally, make any activity in black market drugs a felony. One time....your out. This approach will destroy the illegal drug industry..GREATLY reduce crime...save billions of wasted tax dollars....empty prisons....and go a long way to solving the drug problem. Is it perfect...no. Is it way better than the failed WOD.....absolutely.

For those offended...I apologize for contributing to this thread drift.
