The real conservatives better be demanding that we get 2/3 of the money. If he is to remain, he must grow gonads.

This isn't about Lott. It's about Dem tactics. The Dems haven't had this much fun since Newt was Speaker.
I think the happiest man in DC is probably Ashcroft. The Dems were all geared up to demonize him, when Lott conveniently stuck his foot in his mouth.
I'm not a fan of Lott, but the GOP can't continue to let the Dems take down GOP leaders one by one (how on earth does anyone defend against the racist label? Any defense is considered condescending, and no defense is no defense)
Where do we stop letting GOPers take the bullet and the Rats getting a free pass?

Sadly I don't believe Mr. Lott has the will to get these things done . He will be to busy selling out the republican/conservative agenda to be loved by the Dems to accomplish a da*ned thing.

Sadly I must agree

There will always be regrets, when right is set aside for expediency. Too bad Lott folds faster than a K mart lounge chair under pressure from Dims over important issues, but threatens resignation and plays hardball, when threatened with loss of prestige (loss of leadership.)

You're right. Mea Culpa. But this makes me so angry. I didn't wear my feet to a nub walking precincts this year just to have Trent Lott throw the Senate to the bad guys in a fit of pique. Lott has noone but himself to blame for the spot he's in. He should take it like a man.
And maybe he should stop having two martinis before he opens his mouth in public. What a doofus.

I understand and agree.

If the republicans had all 100 seats in the senate and 435 seats in the house and the presidency, we still couldn't get a conservative agenda through. The republicans are the party of the wimps.
