You are absolutely correct in your view of what Thomas Jefferson believed. In that regard the Founders DID believe that "Natural Law" which was God's law superceeded any Constitution or Man made law. And if the people are supposed to be the seat of governmental power, and the public servants of government default on the entrusted position granted to them by the people through usurpation and un-constitutional actions beyond the scope of their "just" (meaning limited) powers, then the people are no longer legally obligated to obey the defaulting trustees. They are obligated to God's law or Natural Law, and to secure their liberty which is a gift from God they may use whatever means necessary ... which includes secession and the setting up of their own government. However, when the North forcibly subjugated the South in 1865, they repudiated the Declaration of Independence which is the cornerstone of American beliefs, and the democratic republic died. Now we have Big government, Big brother, and we are no longer truly free.

Only problem here is the damnYankee swine will never admit to Lincoln's tyranny.

Oh, believe me, I met some folks around here that would make the KKK squeamish.

As a newspaper columnist and photog, I was once tasked with getting photos of a Klan crossburning on a privately-owned former mining site. Since I went in openly as a newsman, I was treated reasonably politely, and I got some okay photos that my editor was happy with, and I figured that'd be my last association with those people. Not quite.

On my way back home in a pouring rain after we'd put the next day's paper to bed, I saw a little Pinto or Vega station wagon and a pickup pulled off to the side of the road. The car had 3 little old black ladies in it. Outside changing their flat tire were two guys from the Klan rally, including the state Grand Dragon who'd given me the usual line about how they didn't hate blacks. His actions spoke louder than his words.

After I'd relocated and arrived here in Memphis, I took a second holiday-season job, and had a supervisor try to shake me down for a stiff percentage of my hire-on bonus as a Klan *donation* if I ever wanted to see the bonus. I told the company owner, who wouldn't do a thing about it, so I phoned that old contact back in Indiana.

Next paycheck I had my bonus, in full...and an apology from the company owner, with a concerned request to call back again and let the folks on that end know everything had been taken care of to my satisfaction. I suspect I could have held out for a raise about then, but I moved on to another job....

Appears some of those old boys have a pretty long arm....
