Great points in post 169!!

I did see Kelly Ann doing that on Hannity and Colmes, Sean and the Rev. Jesse Petersen to name a few.

Everything you say is true.. and conservatives SHOULD be reinterating those points. The hypocracy of this outcry is astounding.

But if this goes on for very long, it could start to interfere with things the Republicans and President Bush want to achieve. Is there a point where it would be prudent to have Sen. Lott resign the leadership position?

Personally, we would have loved to have seen Sen. Lott step down as soon as the Repubs took back the Senate.

There are a lot of better suited candidates for the position, and Sen. Lott doesn't advocate or verbalize conservative ideas very well IOHO.

But I'm with you for now in that I don't want him to respond to the hysteria and demands of the Black Caucus. I don't feel we should afford them that much power.

The day has come in America, that decent honest Americans of African descent are in the forefront more and more. Those who are NOT willing to be shills or to be used by the Democrats.

We are the party of Lincoln, the party that changed forever how people of African descent and ALL minorities are treated. Which is EQUALLY and with FAIRNESS. We are the party that supported women, the party that changed the basic freedoms of ALL women so they could vote. It always amazes me that "hystorical facts" have been swept away under the rhetoric of the liberals. The liberals are HUGE racists, in that they USE people of different ethnic backgrounds to promote their agenda's, to keep people of African descent and other ethnicity's held down for their own purposes, and power. It's disgusting....

The Democratic party keeps all of us divided and in turmoil by continueing to RACE BAIT politics.

There are a huge amount of people not willing to be used like this anymore by liberals. We have many fine conservatives of many ethnic backgrounds who post right here on FR. People who feel we are all afforded the same opportunities if we work hard. People who feel we should be rewarding achievement, and not skin color.

I think people who KNOW Sen. Lott and have worked with him all these years need to step forward and speak out against the accusations that Sen. Lott is in any way, shape, or form a racist.

I disagree with many things about Sen. Lott. But in this matter, I support him totally.

Perhaps in the near future someone can challenge him, stating that he just isn't taking the party in the direction "politically" that we need to go. But this is NOT the time. To give in to the radicals in the Democratic party, to give in to the EXTREMELY RACIST "Black Coalition/Caucus" would be a huge mistake.

It is going to be interesting and important to see how this plays out.

"IF" the people wanting to take advantage of this moment to remove Sen. Lott win,.. then we are in for YEARS of this kind of racism, turmoil and hypocracy.

This is why I'm torn as someone who has promoted Sen. Lott stepping down (and have for a couple years now), and NOT giving in to those who are crying "foul" when none was intended.

Anyway,.. thanks for an interesting debate on this. I find doing so has made my feelings more clear regarding it.

FRegards, Vets

I agree. I repeat what I said two days ago, that Lott should stand his ground, display a prominent middle finger, and tell the race-baiters (and, of late, the whimpy so-called conservatives) to piss off, quit their whining, and get a life.

Washington, DC and New York are both segregated cities. It makes me sick to hear these hypocritical pundits talk. There isn't one of them who would live in an integrated neighborhood or send their children to the public schools.

To watch the news, one would think that they are two white cities. In fact, New York is now 95% non-white and so is Washington. The whites live in suburbs or penthouses. That is why they cannot tolerate even an oblique reference to segregation, because they practice it, still.

This whole hubub is about stick figures of both Lott and Thurmond--both men with long careers and many positions being characterized by people playing the race card. Blacks and whites who actually live and work together do not walk on eggs like these white people do

And blacks who know and like some white people do not rant and rave like these rabid, angry black caucus people do. They are the same people who last week flew in masse to knock on the doors of poor blacks in Louisianna, because the blacks did not have telephones. I wish they had spent the money on getting those consistuents telephone service instead of on airplane tickets and hotels for themselves.

It must really stick in the craw of democrats to be so dependant on the vote of a minority group that they have exploited for 40 years. They are now saying that whether or not they win depends on black turnout. Every year more and more black people learn how to get telephones for themselves, and when they do, they don't thank Maxine Waters for all of her irritating histryonics.

I never had much use for Lott, but he is after all the same guy who got roundly BOOED by Dems when he showed at at the Wellstone Memorial/Pep Rally, and still said nice things about the deceased Wellstone, with whom he had nothing in common. His biggest gaffe in this current incident is that he was careless and gave the Dems something they would grab onto and never let go of until it they extracted maximum political juice out of it. One should NEVER give them opportunities like this.

For cryin' out loud, the Dixiecrats were one of the most despicable political movements in this country's history.

Key word here is "WERE", as in past history.

Currently, as in "TODAY" , the Democratic Socialists of America,, 56 members who are in congress NOW,, have basically sworn an oath to destroy the constitution and turn America into a socialist nation.

Talk about OUTRAGED,, we're dwelling on some stupid comments taken out of context to destroy a staunch Republican, and still we allow these race baiters to tell us who we should have as a leader.

Stand up and tell these socialists to go piss up a rope.

Blacks and whites who actually live and work together do not walk on eggs like these white people do

Every single American, male or female, ought to be "required" to serve our country for one year in its military. Your quote above is a perfect example of military life. Not to mention our civilian experiences. But in Los Angeles, and in places like the Bronks, can a white person even walk safely down the street in many places considered to be "black" neighborhoods? The sadest thing to me is when you see babies together, they just love each other... but insert a bit of the parents prejudice,..and we have hatred and fear. The Maxine Waters of this world, the Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons, Malcolm "X's, just don't get it. I know in the past, if I've heard someone state a prejudice comment about another race, I'am QUICK to point out that the statement was wrong and hateful. I remember telling an "alleged" Christian who said something racist once that "Gosh, you say your a Christian, but what color skin do you think Jesus had?" "Would you still love him if he had dark skin?" I usually go on to say that I served with people of all colors. And we are all from the same race, THE HUMAN RACE. Every single ethnicity has lost people for this country. We all have served, and as long as we treat each other with respect and as fellow Americans, we'll stay strong. I don't think there is anything MORE BEAUTIFUL than watching how little kids get along. We could all learn from it. What is happening regarding Senator Lott is disgusting. It is racism in its highest form. And it didn't come from Sen. Lott. You are correct to say that some conservatives are playing right into the racists hands by agreeing with them on this issue. The Rev. Jesse Petersen is amazing. He says it so well. (Though he takes a lot of grief for doing so). I was a little disappointed in Thomas Sowell, as I have the greatest respect for him and his ideologies. I wish people had set back and watched this play out a bit longer. What really worries me, is we are just giving these people MORE power if they WIN and Sen. Lott steps down because of this. The message will be heard LOUD and CLEAR. And race relations will NOT improve for it being done. We are all being kept on the "emotional" plantation. A home filled with hate.

I'm tired of this crap about Lott. Too many people are twisting his words around and making him out to be a racist white boy.

Bullsh-t. Everybody knows what he was referring to with Thurmond's 1948 campaign, and it wasn't segregation. While I realize that he has to at least soothe some people, if I were him I wouldn't have even apologized for my remarks. I would have explained them instead. If that isn't good enough, then I wouldn't want your vote anyway.

Lott should remain Senate Majority Leader!

"Trent Lott didn't do anything to damage the spirit of our country."

Not true. He deep-sixed the Impeachment Trial. 'Pod
