As the historic day of 8 December approaches, I would like to offer this prayer by that great American General George S. Patton, Jr. We need to heed the words he prayed 58 years ago. Courage of conviction is what we need--plain talk and straight-forward prayer to the Christian God who has made this Nation what it is.

Talk about coincidence.
I am watching "Patton" (the movie) George C. Scott was reading the prayer when I saw your post.

A powerful prayer from one awesome S.O.B. Thanks!

I saw it earlier this evening and thought it extremely appropriate for the times in which we live.

GENERAL GEORGE S. PATTON, JR.'S PRAYER
Below is the famous "Patton Prayer" and Christmas greeting sent to the men of the Third Army December 8, 1944:
"Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen." |
"To each officer and soldier in the Third United States Army, I wish a Merry Christmas. I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty, and skill in battle. We march in our might to complete victory. May God's blessings rest upon each of you on this Christmas Day."
G.S. Patton, Jr., Lieutenant General Commanding, Third United States Army. |

Yeah I saw the movie today and I noted that part about when he called in the chaplin and ordered a WEATHER Prayer.
Afterwards when the weather cleared he said "darn, I gotta put in a commendation for that chaplin, he's got real pull with the Old Man"

"Where are the men like Patton today?" They stand ready, as their fathers and grandfathers did. They too will become "legions of legends", once their deeds are done, and known.
Sometimes, it is many years before a true heroe's exploits can be known to all. Patience, all.
Those you have always relied on are still here, and still have your back.

I don't doubt they're there, I just wish they'd talk like Patton and Halsey did, instead of spewing all this PC crap.

Speaking of the times we live in, a leader like George in todays "Modern Military" would be kicked out on his ear. Certanly can't have a 4 Star runing around using foul language and having insperationl independent thought regarding the course of battles, mearly because he wins the war!

Don't blame THEM for the PC crap...you know where THAT comes from. As honorable military personnel, we must follow the orders we are given, even if that includes "PC", and even if we wear out our teeth in grinding them.

So far. Well eddie,
Currently I know a Marine Captain (whos dad has 50+ million), a 30 year old Marine Gunnery Sgt., an Army Colonel, a Major, a Sgt Major, a Navy Ensign, a Cadet at the US Military Academy, and whatever they call a student at the Air Force Academy.
My bet is when the time comes, they like their fathers and grandfathers, will kick ass, kill people, and break things.
