State law says a big-game animal killed by a car goes to the person who hit it
Sounds fair.

Very nice. I almost spilled coffee on my keyboard, you two! :-)
Most people probably don't want the animals, but there is an awful lot of excellent meat on a moose, no matter where you hit it. In some ways, she is lucky that they were able to find the moose. Sometimes they run off.

So, the neighbor said "All your moose are belong to us." Sheesh, what a loser. I hope he gets bit by the next moose.
I'm sure this women will be showered with all kinds of series offers of moose meat with cheese to go with it.
Well, did I miss anything?

Another fine example of the local constables not enforcing (or being aware) of the very laws (statues, ordinances) they are paid to uphold.
Make the cop who gave away the moose pay the woman who hit the moose just compensation. Either that, or fire him/her for delinquency of duty.
Are we still talking about a moose?

Well, did I miss anything? You need to wrap the leftovers in tinfoil.
To: socal_parrot
"LOL...Or maybe a buck or two. " the whole idea of the plan; is to get the carcass removed "right now!"...if she didn't want to worry about it right then....
then she's to late...no doe, no buck, n no cheese either...

The police should agree to give the Moose Money to her, and then send her the neighbor's bill for hauling it away and cutting it up.

She probably didn't have her rights explained to her-
"You have the right to remain silent, the right to counsel and the right to moose, as long as you get it out of here quickly. If you can't move it quickly, the guy with the closest tractor wins."
To: socal_parrot
Well yes. Then she should be the one to pay for the moose processing not PD. Just give her the next moose and let her foot the bill.

She is learning the hard way that you gotta keep your eye on your dead Moose or it grows wings real fast.

Ah, but did she consent to having the moose hauled and butchered in the first place?
To: Larry Lucido
offers of moose meat with cheese to go with itIn order to claim any cheese, she will have to provide evidence of her running over a cow. Goats don't count unless you run over one while you are driving a camel.
