Southerners had little manufacturing, they had no need of tariff protection.BINGO Walt, you finally understand! And so what if tariffs were lower? A reduction in the upper income tax bracket from 90% to 40% sounds great, until you observe that others pay 0% or actually receive a refund for monies they didn't pay. 40% was still too much for those in that bracket, and those in that bracket are the ones that protest those rates - NOT those that benefit from the high rate charged to others. Those that pay little or nothing [aka leeches] fight tooth and nail to continue the absurd rates imposed on others, yet decry any and all attempts to equalize/reduce the rates.

imVho, and that of others of the SCV, we cannot/will not wait more than the 60-90 days i mentioned to start "pinging" sonny, if we do NOT see some SERIOUS movement toward a referendum.

Hey don't get me wrong. I'm on your side!! Remember? I was just saying I think it will take Perdue a bit of time to slide anything in under the radar. And I think he will offer the pre-1956 flag as the option. Although personally I like the one after 1956
To: stand watie
You may be asking him to do the impossible - I think there is a Constitutional problem with having a referendum on this subject. He WILL have to consult with the AG, MAY have to litigate the feasibility. All that takes time.
In my opinion, you are being too hasty in holding his feet to the fire. If you feel you MUST, do so privately. Otherwise you are just giving grist to the Atlanta papers' mill, especially if you are demanding of Perdue something that he cannot give under the law. Otherwise, you are just asking him to replicate what that skunk Barnes did -- change the flag in a doubtful manner without taking it "to the people". Then how are "we" any better than "they"?

You are a real ray of sunshine, aren't ya?

BOTH flags are CSA battleflags!
those with brains in GA know that, thus it makes no difference which he proposes going back to.
the scalawags, damnyankees, racebaiters & the mainSLIME media will NOT be pleased. we will win this one, imVho by a LANDSLIDE.

I didn't realize that. Sorry. I was under the assumption the pre-1956 flag was similar to the First National and that the post-1956 just added the CBF to the field of blue on the right. And if I could vote for it here in NC, I hope you know I'd be for bringing the flag back
To: AnAmericanMother
i'm thankfully not a lawywer, BUT we have several good ones in GA (IF there is such a thing???),who tell us that it is not only lawful but fully possible to put together a referendum to return the TRUE flag of GA to the state within a maximun of 180 days, with 90 days being POSSIBLE.

offhand, i can't think of anyone who fits the lincoln mold, except we willie klintoon. BOTH were tyrants and wished to have absolute personal power & $$$$$$$$$$$$. nothing more, nothing less.
NEITHER can be said to have honor or courage of their convictions, but rather were willing to do ANYTHING to get ahead.

the pre '56 flag AND the post '56 flags were both designed in 1861-2 by William Porcher Miles; BOTH were carried proudly into battle by GA troops.
