In this community (I hate that locution, but it works here) that form of activity is referred to as "edge play," meaning activities dangerous enough to kill before they can be stopped. The problem with needing to push the boundary a little further each time in order to get off is that sooner or later what's on the other side of the boundary rears its ugly head. "Doing it only I need glasses" is cute; "doing it only until I'm just a little bit dead" isn't.
