That's right, Roscoe.

Libertarians can't be bought by special interests.

Idaho seems to be the perfect place for these folks.

What makes you think Idahoans want them? The Hayden Lake neo-nazis thought the natives would welcome them, too. We didn't.

Why don't you porcupines settle on New Hamster and leave Idahoans to run things the way they want to. Don't you think the people who live there might object a little when you all decend like locusts and decide to run things "your way"?

You can drop dead for all I care.

Now there's the Liberaltarian motto. Not much sentiment declaring that humans are endowed with rights and that they have immeasurable worth and value. Not much emphasis on the inalienable rights to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness there; just a big 'drop dead.'

Don't confuse personal disagreement with principles, Cultural Jihad.

"I will not be angry" is not a libertarian motto.

Thanks, Roscoe. I've always wanted to know the words to that song.

As to the sentiment you're expressing, handouts are not a libertarian goal.

You're thinking of socialist goals, like those held by both Democrats and Republicans.

"...You have yet to offer one practical solution to any problem likely to be encountered. Are you telling me that once you become a "porcupine" (lol!) then all of a sudden the ideas will just start rolling in? Oh yeah, that's a winning plan alright...."
# 75 by wimpycat

"Not even one practical solution?"

One practical solution to our nation's problems is to do everything in our power to stop socialist policies.

One way of doing that is to consolidate like-minded people in one area so that their votes aren't diluted by the apathetic mass of non-thinking voters known as "Republican, Democrat, and Undecided."

The Constitution doesn't authorize Federal confiscation of State lands, nation-wide entitlement programs, or national definitions of what a "crime" is. All of that is illegal.

What's your solution, wimpycat? Surrender?

No one said "give" us a State, Roscoe.

The plan is to take a State through the mass migration of like-minded voters.

"...what is being said here by detractors in this thread is that people can not survive without large government managing and "paying" for the people's daily needs. How leftist in thought.

Is that what Conservatism is today? Conserving the welfare/managerial state? Today's world is too complex for notions like liberty, individual responsibility, private property, private contract, free enterprise???..."
# 77 by u-89

That is exactly what "conservative" means as defined by Republicans today, u-89.

What is a Democrat? A lying socialist.
What is a Republican? A lying socialist.
There is no difference.

Northern Idaho, warm summers and moderate winters are common at the lower elevations.

Moderate winters my butt. Idaho can be brutally cold anywhere in the state during winter, especially northern Idaho. And the southern area of the state can routinely reach 100 degrees in summer. Moderate winters, oh yeah!

"...The founding fathers rejected this cramped libertarian worldview when they trash-canned the weak and ineffective Articles of Confederation and crafted the more vigorous and muscular Constitution."
# 79 by Kevin Curry
**********************

The Founding Fathers didn't abandon their libertarian ideas when they wrote the Constitution, Kevin Curry.

The Constitution recognizes our rights, prohibits government from infringing on those rights, recognizes that rights don't come from government, and says that government cannot take powers not granted by the people.

That doesn't sound like anything a Republican or Democrat would agree with, does it? It is, however, something a libertarian could offer whole-hearted support to.

They have a visceral hatred of government of any size, but blind hatred of government is thin gruel on which sustain a healthy, prosperous community.
To: Kevin Curry; wimpycat
Think about the old west. When those communities start, they are perfect libertarian microcosms. Wild, wooly, lawless - places where decent people were concerned for their lives (actually, ghetto areas underserved by police are like this as well). As time would go on, things would coalesce, first with a local strongman, later the society would stabilize with law. Secure property, and reasonable public order followed.
# 81 by Chancellor Palpatine
**********************

"Wild, wooly, and lawless;" that's not any libertarian's idea of utopia, Palpatine. You're thinking of anarchism. It's not the same thing as libertarian thought.

Our libertarian Founders didn't create a "wild, lawless" system; they created a law based upon the recognition of our God-given rights, and they created a government limited by the will of the people's representatives. They created a Republic.

Our Founders were not anarchists.
