Saddam is apparently less crazy than we thought. Gadaffi, on the other hand, is apparently more barmy than originally thought.

You'd think Saddam would have learned not to trust an Arab by now. Methinks he'll have to learn the hard way....again. My house is open if he needs someone to look after the royal harem....I'll just charge for room and board.

Wow. The Times doesn't usually stick it's neck out on a story this important unless they feel pretty confident. NewsMax it is not!
Let's see how this resonates.

Should Saddam wait until the bitter end, how will he get out? He will need a note from POTUS.

Even if untrue, an excellent story to be spreading in Iraq.

3.5 billion? but... but... they keep telling us it is all the fault of the US that there is no money for food to feed the chillren over there....

From Fox News Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001:
SNOW: If some of those nations continue to harbor terrorists we would not hesitate to strike high value targets within those borders? RUMSFELD: We have no choice. Either the United States acquiesces to the terrorists and becomes isolationist, turns inward, gives up our freedom. ... And if we decide we can't do anything about this problem we have no choice but to give up that freedom. And we can't do that."
From Meet the Press, same day:
"What's changed in terms of U.S. policy is the president's determination to also go after those nations and organizations and people that lend support to these terrorist operators," Cheney said.

You left out Chappaqua.

Well, we could allow him to extricate himself via a helicopter that develops some "engine trouble" once over no-man's land.

Obviously, Muammar Gaddafi realized this was EASY money to be had. He'll turn over anyone the Bush administration wants rather than risk another Reaganesque like bombardment! Too funny...

The extraordinary steps taken by the Iraqi leader to provide an exit strategy for key relatives and associates, which includes paying $3.5 billion (£2.3 billion
can't feed those starving children though

Kills two birds, at once.
Gets him out of and out of power, in Iraq.
Save ammo, if they get into groups; Libya for now.
