And Bush Basher too? Bush had nothing directly to do with it. It was between the commander on the scene, Norman S., and the Iraqi high command. Even then, it wasn't attacking the Kurds that was allowed, it was flying helicopters that was part of the cease-fire agreement. The Kurds weren't mentioned in the agreement, neither were the Shiites of Basra and environs, that were the main targets, at least initially.
Hmm, twas the other way around. We fought the Brits with French supplied muskets, along with American made ones, and American made rifles.
Unless you are speaking of the French and Indian War, in which case we WERE the British, fighting the French. Later we fought the British again, this time with our own guns. Then we sent guns to Britian to fight the Germans, twice.
Iraq, not more than a few small boats. Iran has a signifgent Navy, although it's mostly missle boats and support craft. They even have Submarines, Russian built Kilos. Pakistan has a big Navy, not as big as India's though, with ex US, ex Brit, and Chinese equipment. They have subs too, German Built type 209s IIRC, maybe others. France, well they have a Navy too, but don't really know what to do with it.
Right. Schwartzkopf said the Iraqis told him they needed to use helecopters to get around to their units to enact the ceasefire, and he agreed without giving it much thought. When Saddam used his gunships to put down the rebels he was sick about it. It was his one big regret of the war.
