You can tell the libs know nothing about firearms safety. Having shot themselves in the foot, they just reloaded and shot themselves in the other foot. They must be breaking out the bubbly over at GOP headquarters.

I'm not convinced she will be demonized like Newt. In fact I imagine that nearly every media outlet around will work overtime to praise her as a woman "of honesty, conviction, and courage who stands by her principles yet can reach across the aisle when the nation needs it"......I can hear them now.

If they can try to turn a silk purse from a sow's ear as in the case of Hitlery, then Pelosi will be a breeze.

I fear we may be celebrating a bit much too soon. I hope I'm wrong.

I hope she is percieved as the shrill Marxist Baby Killer that she is......but I doubt it.

The party that supports baby killing, sexual deviants, removing God from the public, gun confiscation, no water for farmers, no military, and legalizing all drugs has elected a communist woman from San Fransisco to lead them?

That makes sense.

Was watching CNN at lunch and there was Judy Woodruff interviewing Pelosi.

paraphrasing:

Woodruff: "Republicans say that your election as Senate Minority Leader will backlash because you are a San Francisco Liberal Democrat."

Pelosi: "I may be a Liberal Democrat but I am a Conservative Catholic."

I just about fell out of my chair and choked on my cola. Isn't she pro-abort? Pro-homosexual?

Naturally, Woodruff didn't question her statement. She just smiled that "Clinton worship" smile and moved on.

Ha! Put her name through the Bible Code, it'll probably come out as something not to be said in polite company.

One has to wonder why would the rats do such a stupid thing.

Until one realizes that if they had any brains, THEY WOULDN'T BE DEMOCRATS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!

Heard Pelosi this morning on NPR being given the third degree by the rat host who knows she spells diasater for them.

You could hear the desperation in her voice as she fended off his accusations that she was too liberal.

Kaptur was then interviewed and basically said that Pelosi wasn't even going to allow the caucus to get together and discuss the matter, much less delay the vote.

Pelosi won a Soviet style election for minority leader, how fitting!!!

Happy days are here again!!!!

Pelosi Voted In as House Democratic Leader

By Melanie Hunter
CNSNews.com Deputy Managing Editor
November 14, 2002

(CNSNews.com) - In a vote of 177 to 29, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was voted in as House minority leader, replacing Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.).

Pelosi is the first woman to lead either party in Congress. Currently, she is the House minority whip, the number two slot in the Democratic leadership.

Speaking to reporters Thursday afternoon, she thanked her campaign manager and colleagues for voting her in as minority leader.

"It is a staggering honor, there is no question about it, but to follow in the footsteps of Dick Gephardt is a very special privilege indeed," Pelosi said. "Dick Gephardt has led our party in the Congress with great intellect, with great dignity and he has set a very high standard for us to work on behalf of the American people," she said.

Gephardt praised Pelosi, saying she will do "a fabulous job."

"She already has [done a fabulous job] for our caucus and we're all excited about her leadership. She won this on her merit and her leadership capability, and I am confident that with her leadership, we're going to win back the House in 2004," he said.

Pelosi thanked Rep. Harold Ford of Tennessee, who ran against her, but only received 29 votes. Ford and Rep. Martin Frost of Texas, who later dropped out of the race, had criticized Pelosi for being too liberal.

"I think that her politics are to the left," Frost said of Pelosi, "and I think that the party, to be successful, must speak to the broad center of the country."

Pelosi has recommended Rep. John Spratt (D- S.C.) as assistant to the minority leader. He has an "impeccable reputation among our colleagues for the kind of person he is and the caliber of work he does on the budget committee," Pelosi said.

She added that the theme of her leadership will be "safety and soundness for the American people - the safety to promote the common defense."

"John Spratt brings great credentials from the Armed Services Committee on which he has served since 1982. He has been a leader in protecting the American people. He has also been a leader on the budget committee and that speaks to the soundness of our country," Pelosi said.

Pelosi is the first woman to lead the Democrats, or any party for that matter, in Congress. Despite that, she said she Pelosi is the first woman to lead the Democrats, or any party for that matter, in Congress. Despite that, she said she "didn't run as a woman."

"I ran again as a seasoned politician and experienced legislator. It just so happens that I am a woman and we have been waiting a long time for this moment," Pelosi added.

She said Democrats want to raise the "level of civility" in Congress and open an "honest debate on how to take this country into the future."

Pelosi claimed that Americans failed to turn the patriotism they felt as a result of the Sept. 11 attacks into action by voting in the November elections, and that low voter turnout meant losses for Democrats.

"As Democrats, we have a responsibility to reach out, to make our message clear, to build grassroots operations throughout this country around the issues so that we will increase the Democratic turnout in our elections, which will give legitimacy to the results," she said.

Pelosi stressed that her party stands "shoulder-to-shoulder" with the president in his war against terrorism, but when they cannot find common ground on domestic issues, she pledged, Democrats will stand their ground.

"Where we can find our common ground on the economy and on other domestic issues, we shall seek it. We have that responsibility to the American people. Where we cannot find that common ground, we must stand our ground," she said.
