Yeah but that crew's not leaving the sinking ship S.S Democratic.
I hope I am wrong on this but I don't think the ship is sinking. Taking on water and listing to the left, yes, but not about to sink anytime soon. If, however, it does start to sink, please don't send out too many lifeboats.

Zell Miller is a Deomcrat I could vote for...only because he doesn't sound like, act like, nor has the beliefs of a Democrat.
Face it, Zell. Your party has left you. (no pun intended)

Note too that while conservative talk show hosts across the country support the President's issues on taxes and homeland security the democrats' spokepeople are insisting the tax cuts be reversed and the homeland security bill NOT be passed.
Even if the dem leaders support the President their representatives in the media continue bashing the President's tax cuts and homeland security position.
It seems to me the media has become the biggest obstacle to the dem's getting a new message out.......and HOW SWEET IT IS!

America is the most tax-averse country on earth Wrong. We are the most government averse .
We want to be left alone to pursue our private lives. That means getting liberals out of our wallets and conservatives out of our bedrooms.

Democrat Senator: "Our Party Needs To Embrace Tax Cuts. . ."Zell Miller, you are too reasonable a man to remain in the pathetic Democratic Party. Please come out from them and save yourself from disgrace. You would be effective as a Republican.

I noticed that scary tidbit too. Once I calmed down, I realized that was not a reality. More importantly though, why do Democrats think that government employment means bringing jobs to America? Those are not jobs in the real economic sense. They are just additional overheads. A job is something that adds to the GDP.
I see Zell Miller as being 80% conservative. Occasionally one of those whacky ideas in the liberal zone of his head may pop out. I would take Miller over most so called republicans any day. I am glad he does not jump ship too. A good politician has to dance with the one who brought you to the prom.
Don't worry though. A politician and their ilk spend their entire lives trying to get to Washington, not leave it. The only reason to decentralize Washington and disperse it to poison the rest of the country would be nuclear or biological terrorism. I hope he doesn't know something we don't.

Do you perform abortions in your bedroom? That would make it very difficult for decent people to sleep there. Sort of like booking a room at the Auschwitz shower facility. A lot more than one toke over the line, huh?

Well, with this column Zell blew his outside shot to get the Treasury job.
This is more New Deal/LBJ-style junk that never worked to begin with.

This whole business about the government providing jobs to boost the economy needs to be dispensed with.
Want a recent example of an industrialized nation that took this road and destroyed their economy because of it? How about Argentina, which since 1945 used public works and make-work jobs a priority.

the Democratic Party could follow that other inflexible party of groups, the Whigs, into the dustbin of history. As Homer Simpson would say, "Whoo-hoo!"

The problem with Miller's position is that in capitalism, you can't have wealth creation without people getting rich. It's like having "water without the wet."
Democrats want wealth creation; they want a prosperous economy---but they don't want the rich people and individual freedom that go along with it.
That's why I think no matter how much sense Miller makes, he ignores the obvious contradiction in his own party.

This is more New Deal/LBJ-style junk that never worked to begin with. Read Zell Miller's laundry list of socialist proposals article and then read some of the brain-dead comments from FReepers heaping praise him. Miller is still a DemoRat, and he should be treated as one until he undergoes a serious conversion into conservatism.
