Those Kabul students look pretty damn old for university. Then again, so do a lot of the permanent undergrads at Berkeley, etc. The LA Times played the Kabul riots up big in today's edition, while ignoring virtual insurrection in Iranian universities for the past year. No surprise.
Thanks for ending with the heartwarming story about the Comanche codetalkers. Great stuff.

As a Christian, most people might think its difficult to understand this Amrozi's glee.
However, he is an islamofascist and he and his ilk are lower than savages - they are filthy animals who need to be defeated before they kill us.
To: Diogenesis
That means they are treating him too well in the prison. He appears well-fed, vigorous and healthy. They should give him a chance. Dark, dank, alone and hungry let him be a while.
OTH, another sometimes good philosophy is feed him well, let him show everyone what a silly brat of a kid he is. Let him hang himself. This is the merciless way.

How cool is that! To have an integral and impossible to duplicate mission that helped immensely with D-Day - and to describe it by saying those three little words "We talked Indian"
That gave me chills!

Well, its a good thing that the American schools did not succeed in wiping out the languages of the Cherokees, Comanches and Navahos, eh?
To: swarthyguy
Sure. And I hadn't ever heard before about the Choctaw code talkers in WWI. Has anyone else?

Exactly! I was wondering the same thing. Nothing like a using an anti-armor/vehicle/bunker weapon against a crowd:

Also, regarding these guys?
Grant their wish. Latter choice.
To: Diogenesis
From the university protest in Kabul- the one fellow was using an RPG for crowd control. And the anarchists here think they have it bad if they get a little pepper spray?

I would love to get a hold of smiley and go to work on those teeth with a pair of linemen's pliers

Great post! Loved the code talker article.

He could use the RPG to airburst the students, you can dial in the timing on the fuze at the front of the grenade... Once the grenade has travelled so far, BOOM...An Ethiopian guy here at work was explaining the operation of the RPG to us. Don't believe everything you hear. The nose fuze on a PG-7VL projectile is a piezo crystal that sets off the base-detonated charge when crushed. The warhead also includes a 4.5 second delay fuze, which allows the rocket to travel approximately 900-920 meters before self-detonating as a safety feature.
To get an airburst with an RPG-7, just pick a target about 900 meters away, and aim a little high. It helps if multiple rounds are fired, as the Somalis did with theirs against US forces during Operation Gothic serpent. That's of course the best way to utilize RPG fire against vehicular targets as well.
The RPG-7 can also be very suitable for use as an antisniper weapon in an area like a university campus, and lends more serious authority to roadblocks as well. None of this FBI stuff about shooting unarmed motorists with an M4 carbine!

I agree but I forgot to mention that the guy with the RPG needed to be much further away..btw my friend at work was also explaining all of the other "toys" he used to be in charge of when he was fighting somalis in ethiopia. He and his wife just became US citizens...he went through hell to get here, and if he ever goes back he was promised that he wouldn't live that long....

By Chief Chibitty: ..." We talked Indian"... Gaaaakkkk! How inconsiderate and politically incorrect of him!It reminds me that Larry King had 2 of the men whose story was told in the movie "Windtalkers" on his show a while ago. LK asked one of them if it bothered them to be called Indians, and he matter-of-factly replied, No, not at all.
Dio, thanks for a wonderful post again!
