I don't know what group it is, or where they are from. Someone once mentioned United Arab Republics, but I'm not sure that person knew what he was talking about. They are definitely Muslim. But if you are interested, an entire tribe of them live in the Landmark Towers buildings on Route 7 (King Street) off of 395 in Alexandria, just south of DC. It really is frightening to be in an elevator with people in metal masks...creepy, in a science-fictionish sort of way.

It's just the women who wear the metal masks (they also wear the kind of robe-like garments common to women in Middle-Eastern countries) and girls after the age of 11-12 or so. The men and boys dress like Americans. It is bizarre.

Yes, I'm thinking they have problems with needing to exfoliate that you and I can't even imagine. And not to gross you out even more, but, this isn't the cleanest bunch of people I've ever been around either, if you catch my drift. Ahem. There is definitely a BO thing going on there, as well.
