Not sure how accurate this is, anyone else have any info?

I'm tuning into some shortwave bands now....

I think this would be breaking news on every channel, if true.

Pondering jumping up to breaking but want to manke sure first.

I'll believe it when CNN reports it, but there's nothing on CNN's web site about any U.S deaths. Interfax has published a lot of wild claims out of Afghanistan in the past year.

FOX had an oblique mention of the missile attack during their 'update' last hour...nothing re: the hummers and landmines.

I think we've lost about a full division now based on reporting from Asia and the Middle East.

Not that this means anything, but nothing on Drudge, either.

Closer to a Corp I would think.

Interfax often takes raw quotes or information from Pakistani news services which are notoriously unreliable when it comes to U.S. casualties. Let's see if there is a more credible news source that independently reports the information before jumping to conclusions.

In a separate incident, a checkpoint, a military base near the town of Khowst and strong points in the Gardez province, have come under a missile and artillery strike, the source said.

US Positions Come Under Fire in Afghan Province of Uruzgan
VOA News
08 Nov 2002, 19:49 UTC

U.S. special forces in Afghanistan came under small arms fire in two separate incidents Thursday.
A U.S. military statement Friday said one of the attackers was killed, in an engagement near the central Afghan town of Deh Rawod in Uruzgan province.
There were no U.S. casualties.
Later Thursday, U.S. air support was called in after eight men armed with AK-47s and light machineguns fired on U.S. positions just north of the eastern city of Khost. There were no immediate reports of casualties. The assailants escaped.
The U.S. statement said U.S. paratroopers launched air assaults on four targets northeast of Khost Thursday to prevent what it called "hostile forces" from establishing positions near the city.
There have been frequent clashes in the area between fighters loyal to the local governor and a renegade warlord.

...an Afghan Defense Ministry source told Interfax on Sunday evening. If this were truly the source, then it would of been over US News long before Interfax if true...

There is nothing on any of the wires (AFP, UPI, AP)- methinks it's more middle east "media" nonsense.
