Tornadoes in Columbus and Crawford, MS. I'm trying to find out info since I am on satellite with no local news. Three people killed in mobile homes in Crawford. If you have any further info, anyone, please post it.

MS University for Women was hit by one....it's my understanding there's a lot of damage in Columbus. My granddaughter is at a dorm at MUW, and my daughter has gone to pick her up. She is supposed to call when they get back, and I'll update then.

A tornado touchdown was confirmed in northwestern Cullman County. Extensive damage was reported in the Smith Lake area of the county. John Paul Myrick, of the Cullman County EMA, said there were numerous injuries associated with the storm.

Walker County (Alabama)Baptist Hospital reported 18 injuries related to the tornadoes and storms that moved through the area.

Two tornado touchdowns were reported in Walker County. Officials reported winds up to 170 mph.

Carbon Hill Elementary School suffered extensive damage to 10 classrooms and the administrative building of the
school.

The EMA reported damage to several homes in the towns of Carbon Hill and Eldridge. Heavy damage is reported along Myers Road in Carbon Hill. A building was also reported on fire in Carbon Hill. Also, half of a Chevron gas station
was eveled by the storm.

The city of Carbon Hill was put on lockdown after the storms passed through, so emergency officials could begin cleanup efforts.

Highway 13 is closed in Walker County due to trees down on the road. Highway 78 also has debris on parts of the road.

Debris and downed trees are reported on Highway 43 in Eldridge.

Power lines were reported down in the Fultondale and Gardendale areas of Jefferson County.

High River Apartments were damaged in Tuscaloosa County. No injuries were reported.

A tornado touchdown was confirmed in Marshall County.

Structural damage was reported near VisionLand in Bessemer.

Winston County EMA reports four to five possible injuries related to a tornado touchdown in the Double Springs area.
A house was also blown off its foundation in the county, according to reports.

A house is reported in the road on Highway 171 North in Fayette County.

Trees are also down on Fayette County Roads 53 and 44.

Possible storm-related injuries and a house fire are reported in Fayette County.

Cullman County is one county north of Jefferson County...which is the county that Birmingham is located in. So northern/middle Alabama...

Reports of businesses damaged around Birmingham, Alabama.

Apparently southwest of the city by a few miles...not a lot of details though.

Seems to have been a lot of damage in Columbus, MS. I really don't know many details; I wish I did. My granddaughter is back home now. The window blew out in her dorm room, and I understand quite a few cut by glass. Schools closed tomorrow. Kids in the dorm had fortunately all been moved downstairs.
