Someone should throw that shithead Drudge in the can.
And the NY times.

Back when reality ruled, actions like this was clearly treason and the reaction swift.

Saddam must love these guys...

Er, wouldn't it be more peaceful and easier for you to send them a few rounds while you slipped out the back, Jack?

Spoken like a true Frenchman!

How many times have we seen this stupid headline? I have a feeling we're not even going to go to war with Iraq. And kudos to the President if we don't.

So what would you advise? You are implying that it's a bad idea for us to be turning up the screws on Iraq, because they will try to kill us, as many of us as they can, as dramatically as they can.

If cleaning up that pond scum means I'm dead, so be it.

I say we take them out, in a manner that leaves no doubt we will do it again, to the next a**hole that gets that far out of line, if we need to. We won't do it precipitously -- there will be plenty of warning. And we won't do it lightly -- we will have more patience and tolerance for evil than most folks can imagine. But when we say "this is it -- shape out or ship out, to hell", we will mean it. Period.

And if they do score a big hit on us, on their way down, maybe it will teach America a lesson: don't let the evil ones get so far before striking next time; don't elect a President for eight years running who is a lying, coke snorting, thieving, raping, murdering traitor, big time.

Character counts. Freedom is worth dying for.

Bush and his folks are pretty darn well aware of the risks involved. They are doing as much as they can to see that such an attempt to kill innocents fails. And I trust that they wouldn't be taking that risk unless the alternative sucked worse. But our enemy has chosen to make this a war on civilians - us. We are in the cross hairs just as much as our brave young soldiers.

Stand tall. Be brave. Live free or die.

Is this the "fake-out" plan that gets "leaked" so as to divert from the "real" plan?"

No way for us to know, and more importantly no way for Saddam or his henchmen to know either.

One senior official, drawing on comparisons with the American occupation of Japan in 1945, said, "Our message will be that the faster we find the weapons and arrest Saddam's guys, the faster they get some normalcy."

Maybe there will be other comparisons with August of '45 to be made? Saddam has to be worrying about that. Oh, this it won't a city, but rather deep penetration weapons digging Saddam out of his hidey hole. Probably not required, deep penetrating thermobaric bombs would probably serve as well for turning SH into a CC.

Yeah - there's something to say for that.

I see a couple of motivations for our detour through the U.N.

  1. We figured we had more to gain from this delay in the start of the fighting than did Saddam or the terrorists. It takes a while to build up the overwhelming force we would prefer to fight with, and we might be learning more about, preparing more for (smallpox vaccinations, for instance) and dismantling more of, the terrorists capabilities than they are building up.

  2. This isn't just us -- it's the whole of civilization that is being attacked by these radical islamists. We don't gain by leaving the rest of the world frozen in fear, like we would if we had just been the (lucky to still be alive) innocent witness to a big Mafia hit. We really can benefit from other nations working this too, in various ways.

One of the terrorists objectives is to turn the world against us; better that we make an effort to turn the world against them.
