Please, let it be true!!!!! The income tax is choking us with paperwork, convoluted thinking, and just plain expense. I would be delighted to see a move toward taxing consumption, rather than income. This also strikes me as potentially favorable to retired people, whose earning opportunities are limited and whose consumption is typically lower.

A large number of states are already attempting to create a "national" sales tax independent of the federal govement.

The effort is called the Streamlined Sales Tax Project.

I can just see liberal heads across the land exploding with rage that such an idea would be given a serious float.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! Dubya will earn himself a whole chapter in the history books if he pulls this off! Sounds like he's energized by the election results; really believes he can get important stuff done now. Awesome! Let's get energized ourselves and help make it happen.

Bump for freedom! If Bush can finesse it, we may see a completely different, more free and prosperous America in the coming months.

There is no question that the IRS system must stop, but so far, the government refuses to even answer basic questions about the code! This is a basic First Amendment issue which will have to be answered. You can have a part is hastening this process, by being in Washington DC on the Mall next Thursday, November 14th. See the process at: www.givemeliberty.org.

The Income Tax IS illegal, and must stop.

Just this morning Mrs. Sooner and I were having the "about last nite" conversation. Anyone care to guess what was tops on the list?

We both hope this is more than just a trial balloon.

I heard about this after the tax cut was passed, that President Bush's centerpiece of his 2004 campaign would be some sort of monumental changing of the tax system. Either a flat tax or a national retail sales tax. Count that for what it's worth.

I'd absolutely love for the entire income tax code to be scrapped and replaced. But I think maybe we should start with some more modest goals at first. Like getting a judge or two confirmed perhaps.
