It ain't gloating when you back it up. Great job GOP. These people are evil. Those that support them are evil or complicit. I hold them in contempt.
"Strange Joy", naw! It's only strange the first time.

I've seen very little gloating, lots of celebrating. And if it's gloating, so what? When McAuliffe gets fired and RAT Senate committee chairmen get their puny new assignments and second rate office space, I'll be gloating. Guaranteed.
To: ArcLight
Sorry but schadenfreude is not the same thing as celebrating a hard won victory. After the what the RATS did in 2000, and the corrupt scams since then, from Jeffords to the NJ switch scheme, to the crass Wellstone memorial, we have the right to gloat a bit. There is comparison to what the Dems did at the Wellstone memorial. We won fair and square, despite the fraud and deceit of the RATS.
And I don't think the hatred is aimed so much at Democrat voters as at the corrupt and crooked leaders of that party.

After all the smug and smarmy gloating
they've done in the past, and indulge in every time they get a chance, I think we are entitled to a little celebrating (I wouldn't call it gloating) ourselves.
Lighten up!
To: ArcLight
Good heavens, if you can't gloat over your opponents' failures and consign them to eternal hellfire for their slightest character faults, what's the point of being a Christian?
Incidentally, does anybody know why "Schadenfreude" is capitalized?

The other side has enough hate for all of us.
I don't hate them, but I'll be DAMNED if I'm not gonna have a little fun at their expense.

A couple of weeks ago I tried to exit the highway and a guy wouldn't let me into his lane (I had time and had signaled) and then he yelled at me to F-off and gave me the finger. I couldn't figure out what I had done to him and my husband later said he thought it was my Talent bumpersticker. (The buy was in a modified with ladders, perhaps a union worker.)
There could have been a wreck and this guy's road rage at me could have gotten people killed. Talk about hatred! All for a lousy bumpersticker?
America seems like two different countries sometimes and I think that their hate-filled practices have fed the division.

I divide lefties into two groups: those who know where they are leading us and those who just hate the rich. I despise both kinds with a burning passion. I hate with all my heart those who will abolish our Bill of Rights the first chance they get and hand us over on a platter to the Socialists who run the UN, who will loot us and divvy up the kitty between them, and then begin dragging all of humanity into the abyss. Even now I am actually restraining myself so as not to say how I REALLY feel.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to gloat some more and plot the next round of attacks in 2004. May our enemies be vanquished, may they gnash their teeth and pull their hair, may we hear the weeping and wailing of their women, etc etc etc.

I agree... let's knock off the gloating...the results could be tragic
Proverbs 24
17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice,
18 or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn His wrath away from him.
We wouldn't want God's wrath to be removed from the Demon-crats, would we? I have long suspected that God allowed Clinton's impeachment to fail for this very reason. So, let's not blow it again.
Stop gloating! Leave God's wrath where it belongs -- on them, not us!

I've been smiling all day and I have a bounce in my step now. I'm not gloating, but yesterday's election will go down in the history books. It was a colossal, historic victory for President Bush and the Pubbies.
The rest of the world knows that not only is Bush serious, but we the people are too.

ArcLight, I WILL enjoy my schadenfreude today, and nobody is going to stop me!!
(Believe me, the Republican schadenfreude is 1/1,000,000,000th of what the Dims would indulge in if they were celebrating a similar victory).
To: ArcLight
You've got the wrong word. Schadenfreud means enjoying another's misfortune
even though you got no direct benefit. Enjoying your own victory is not schadenfreud. But it can get to be gloating.

We're entitled to celebrate the election for a day. After Bush won in 2000, Gore and his friends didn't even let us celebrate.
But I agree with you as far as the behavior of public figures and Republican politicians goes. They should avoid gloating and over the longer term avoid triumphalism, or they will pay a big price. They should avoid taking their victory for granted, or they will kick the opportunity away.
I haven't heard any of them gloating. Nothing like the way the clintonoids always behave when they win. Anyone remember Bill Clinton's first inaugural celebration, and the way the media treated it?
I don't think President Bush will be inviting Hollywood starlets in to jump in the Lincoln bed.

And I'm going to savor it for a while.
Interesting...here in VT...not a word from the Liberal Cong. delegation

All right, AL...'cause it's you.
Plus, I always give extra credit when anyone spells "schadenfreude" correctly!
To: ArcLight
As the originator of the Schadenfreude Thread here on FR, I'd like to point out that
Schadenfreude is an expression of
joy, not hatred. In other words, it's perfectly okay to celebrate the misfortune of the enemy's
cause, so long as that celebration does not involve hatred towards the enemy as a
person.
For the record: I don't hate anybody, liberal or conservative. But I do hate the various causes that liberals stand for: communism, socialism, liberalism, humanism, hedonism, atheism, etc. I will continue to express the "strange joy" I feel at seeing these diabolical causes destroyed.

You can feel whatever way you want to feel.
As for me, I can't help feeling joy to see so many dirtbag socialists defeated. At least the socialist scourge will be slowed a little - and for that I am happy.
I have a hard time not hating the people who want to destroy the Constitution, take away our inalienable God-given rights, confiscate more of my hard-earned money to fund their socialist schemes - money that my family deserves - not them, kill more babies and suck their brains into abortuary sinks, and to appease mad dictators and tyrants around the world. Finding joy in their defeat and their despair is a far cry better than shooting them, don't you think? Thank goodness we still have some semblence of a representative system within our Republic that allows the People to peacefully push back, for a time, the forces of tyranny.
I may be sitting in a cubicle at working, appearing as if I'm focused on my tasks. But, inside, I'm dancing for joy like a maniac with every post detailing the sadness and despair being experienced right now by the dirtbag Democrats.
Call it a character flaw - I don't care. Just don't take away my momentary joy, partypooper.
You can coddle and console the enemy if you prefer. As for me - and I know I should repent of this - but I prefer to "to crush my enemies, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women."
