If you have to keep a Microsoft partition around just to deal with the other people caught in the single-source trap, then you too are still trapped.
Huh? What about the OpenOffice/StarOffice panacea? More BS?

Who gives a flying crap. Real Networks formats are just as ubiquitous and a player is available for Linux.

Who gives a flying crap. How nice. As I remember, the kids at school used to regress into vulgarity when they couldn't come up with a valid argument.

Yup, because Real knows that some users of their protocol don't care for Windows. Microsoft, on the other hand, wants everybody to become a Windows user, and will do everything they can to hurt non-Windows users.
We know this. That's why we're not holding our breath waiting for a Media Player for Linux, and are rolling our own.

Actually if you follow up on this, you will find that this guy is saving the taxpayers of his district tons of money, an novel concept from Europe.

Hand over your lunch money, punk.

Since Real is offering their software, it's obvious that Microsoft's actions are irrelevant.

Again, more proof that Microsoft's actions are irrelevant.

.. it's obvious that Microsoft's actions are irrelevant.
That's true in any case. Microsoft really doesn't matter anymore.
