So true, and by scheduling the debate at 10:00 a.m. I'm sure he hoped to minimize the damage that will be done when people actually see/hear him speak.
Unfortunately for him, this will be replayed at 10:35 p.m.
I'm hoping that one of the local stations picks it up and plays it during prime time. ABC affiliate just before MNF would be good!

41 percent of Independents will choose the Republican, and 34 percent will vote for the Democrat.Yup! I almost dropped my coffee when I read this. And you're right, these numbers ARE the election!

Hey, but all the pundits have said that GWB has short coattails. I just don't know what to think, now.
God Bless GWB

Thanks for the excellent analysis, CT! Regarding McCain, he cannot win on 04 against Bush, he will be 72 in 08. If he ran as an Independent, he'd still lose. If he ran as a Democrat, the clintons would have him eliminated. I don't see much that he can do, really.

To add to your views....In California , Simon is acknowledged to be pulling up to Davis and continue to do so...

Always enjoy reading your astute and well-reasoned comments.
This article is biased, no doubt, but another reason besides bias leads the media to downplay a possible rout--and that's ratings. Playing the election as a horse race keeps people tuned in.
Also, it's always in a political party's best interests to think the race is tight and every vote counts. Nothing like expecting a cakewalk or a rout to get voters to go fishing rather go to the polls. I, for one, am glad that the REAL story of this poll might not get dsseminated very widely.

I, for one, am glad that the REAL story of this poll might not get dsseminated very widely. Well, it sure didn't in today's Houston Chronicle. They took the story, left out all the numbers showing the Republican favorables, and reported it only as saying that neither party was showing leadership.
It was amazing.

Thank you, Common Tator! Between Dales' knowledge of polling statistics, and your insight behind the numbers, Free Republic is a better place.

I've noticed the same thing about Rita Cosby lately. She seems to absolutely ebullient over the Dem victories and is pumping, pumping for Repubican bad news. I used to respect her reporting, but her bias is definitely showing.
