However, that’s not what I want to discuss with you. I want instead to explore something far more fear-inducing, for what transpired there in the University of Minnesota’s Williams Arena is indicative of the increasingly dangerous circumstances we as conservatives are facing - and are, by and large, failing to prepare to defend ourselves against.

In fact, helping to create. When conservatives support, nay applaud, legislation like the "Patriot Act" and "Homeland Defense", they are signing their own future death warrants. Bush isn't going to be president beyond 2004. He will lose his re-election bid if he keeps going with the Iraq war. America remembers Viet Nam. And whether or not America waltzes into Iraq without even a single casualty, American's will not support the war in Iraq or its vicious outcome. Replacing Saddam with an American General, as has been suggested by the Bush administration, will be to Bush's own political peril even if the war is never executed.

That's right. What has become crystal clear to me in the wake of the Wellstone event is that conservatives in America today are on the very verge of becoming the unmistakable equivalent of the Jews in mid-1930s Germany, but for the 2nd amendment 6 million could have already been killed.

We know our history. Let's make sure we're not doomed to reapet it. What should the decent Germans have done in the 1920's to stop what was coming?

I doubt we're much more than 15 years away from Kristallnacht. The polarization of the nation has progressed past the point of no return. Class, race, and basic philosophy (individual rights versus "social justice") divisions have solidified.
