It appears as thought the police have the mission to intimidate and extort rather than protect and serve. Just waiting for the jackboot lickers like Ilbay to show up and try and put their spin on this.
To: SJackson
No, no, no. This is perfectly OK. These men are professionals, so don't worry. And if you do get killed by a negligent discharge, your family will be paid off with a settlement from the "authorities", courtesy of the taxpayer.
All is well.

Are they interested in the safety of those they swore to protect, or their own safety? Well, I shall probably get flamed for this, but I am an NRA Life Member, and am still as mad about Waco as anyone, but:
Of COURSE they are concerned about their own safety!
Doesn't anyone remember the DC Police chief in tears a few years ago, because his cops were being hunted FOR SPORT by the street punks? (In GUN FREE DC!)
Sure, I am as alarmed as anyone about the erosion of _RIGHTS_, but I think a lot of people who write some of this stuff should shut up and put on a badge and try that horrible job for a while.
I know you could not pay me enought to want it.
Our enemies are the politicians, and the Socialist Press, not the poor local flatfoots who do not set policy. They have families they would like to get home to, and have as much right to use deadly force as I do...not more, not less.

Whatever credibility this author may have had in discussing firearms is destroyed by his mistaken reference to a Tec-9 (misspelled) which looks nothing like the MP5 in the picture.

Sayyyy, are you implying that anyone these Blue Knights shoot didn't deserve it? Damned commie anarchists around here...I was thinking the same thing

Funny, I thought writing for lewrockwell.com pretty much destroyed his credibility before he even mentioned the firearms.

Ever notice that pointing a gun at a "ciilian" is a proper thing for cops to do, but if you do it to them then you are threatening them and worthy of being shot?
Welcome to our little police state, where cops have become the dumbest creatures on Earth.

bump .... good points .. too bad the cops will never follow them.

Strengthening that FIRST rule to
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN UNLOADED WEAPON!
would solve most all firearms related "problems."
To: SJackson
"Violation of any of these rules could lead to punishment as a safety violator with a punch in the face by an NCO"
If that happened, that NCO would be out on his ass in minutes. NCO's and CO's are forbidden to strike enlisted Marines, in training and non-military situations (where there is a little leeway presumably, but look what happened to Patton). Discipline is internal and team based, not instilled through physical abuse.
"Which leads us to question the courage of many that serve in law enforcement today. If they fear uncertainty of future events, then maybe this isnt the job for them."
Let's see Casey Khan do their job. Being a cop isn't a penis measuring contest...you have to take calculated risks. Fire discipline is important, but to criticize the entire institution based on these anecdotal examples where nothing bad actually happened is asinine.
"Marines have served in extreme combat zones with far less gear than these policemen have."
Different equipment for different situations. Marines value their mobility and have to travel many miles a day on foot; and what gear in particular is he referring to? Cause most bulletproof vests wouldn't do a whole hell of a lot against a 2000fps rifle bullet.

Not to mention that the "Border Patrol" agent is a US Marshall, and the picture is the most famous image of the infamous Elian Gonzales raid. You're right...the author blew it big time.

These actions are only to be taken by trained professionals. Do not try this at home.

So What!!! Do you have to be a "Gun Geek" to write an article with the word gun in it.
To: SLB
You mean like the asshole FBI agent that shot that man in the face? True pros. I hope you get to experience their professional conduct someday. Better yet someone you really care about. See how much you kiss their JBT butts then.

Do you have to be a "Gun Geek" to write an article with the word gun in it. No, but in this instance the author is posing as a expert in proper gun handling. He should at least get the facts right. MP5 and Tec-9 are not even on the same planet in terms of appearance. It's not like making a mistake on which 1911 or Sig handgun someone is using.
