You would be shocked at just how little people like Sen. Don Perata, Sen. Jack Scott, or any of the other persistent California gun law authors know about firearms. They're writing law after law about guns when they barely know which end of the gun the bullets come out of. Mention "barrel lapping" to them and you might as well be quoting Shakespeare in Klingon!

Morse sounds like he almost "gets it". Though written with the required mocking tone, he seems to understand that ballistic "fingerprinting" is a myth. Of course, his thinking may simply be that since "this dog won't hunt", his side in the gun control debate would be spending their time more productively by pursuing other types of gun laws.

Be careful what you say! Some people on this forum get extremely bent out of shape when you dis' a bushmaster. I prefer Colt myself.

"So if you shoot yourself in the leg, will you sue me?" asked Badabak. "I asked the Department of Justice if people could sue, and they just said, 'We'll back you up."'

Comforting, I'm sure.

Of course the liberals have never heard of "barrel lapping"

Neither have most gun owners, I bet. I have a rifle I would like to try that on. Sounds like some work but could be worthwhile. I first heard of this in G&A in a Ross Seyfreid (sp?) article. Wonder what happened to him?

Just because colt shows them on their brochures and websites doesn't mean they're available.

....word is you can't get much of anything from colt these days unless you're the government or a brainless millionaire that is willing to hand over obscene amounts of cash for a gold plated, engraved, custom made special edition collectors item in a commemorative case.

I just went to three gunshops today. All three places told me the pistols have been flying off the shelves faster than they can order new ones in since the sniper thing started.

I'd say 9-11 and these two sniper jerks have been a boon to not only the gun industry but also to gun rights.....so far at least. It remains to be seen what the gun grabbers try to get away with in the upcomming months and years.
