This has much more to do with eyeballs and patience than it does with muscles and firepower, IMHO.

Yup.

Since a round of golf for Beltway pols may now involve a round or more, change is coming.

The sheeple of the Beltway is effectively disarmed, under penealty of law, and now random death.

We the (rest of the) People are armed per our Constitution. Armed citizens riding to the sound of the gun(s) will end this shooter(s) spree. Most of the cops will continue to be historians.

IMO, this will end with a hot firefight, possibly with the perps' explosives killing and maiming more - if given quarter. We citizens should consider less than 500 rounds in the trunk and office light. I favor a sidearm, 12, .223 and .308 with a proper mix of FMJ, hunting, and tracer loads. I suspect that the perp(s) have body armor and possibly vehicular armor; a heavy rifle's solids might just be needed to deliver a knockout. "Firstest with the mostest"

Sheeple form to the left. The rest of us are right.

It's like Sarah Brady b!tching about being on the receiving end of a BATF dynamic entry. Just how much sympathy would you have for her in that case?

"...What do you do if an American Muslim or contingent of American Muslims want to be deputized and armed as well?..."

If they want to serve, American Moslems should be deputized.

American Moslems are American citizens, and thus are members of the militia.

Do you happen to know how many of the guys who put the *Grand Eagle* raid to rescue the hostages in Iran together were *old retired former military consultants*...like the ones who'd been on the Son Tay raid into North Vietnam, and even the WWII Ranger raid on the Jap POW camp at Cabanatruan in the Phillipines?

Yeah,I knew a few of them, but they weren't retired during the Iran hostage rescue effort. They were still on active duty. There are still a few of them around working under contract, but most met the mandatory retirement age long ago.

I don't remember that, Ghost.

If you have a link to the story, I would like to read about it.

It doesn't take a state of war to make an armed populace a sane alternative to a pen full of sheep...bump!

Bump indeed, TigersEye.

Well said.

You say, "Hey! I don't recognize you! What group are you with?"

Languages might be a possible problem, particularly in the polyglot D.C. area....

This is not hysteria ... some of the other solutions spouted may be ... I haven't heard them.

Your casual reference to armed citizens as "Barney Fifes" established your mind set. I don't view honest citizens who want to protect their families and homes that way, and I believe they can and should be trained to do so and given the opportunity.

Their first duty is to be eyes and ears and establish a presence, their next is to observe and report, finally, if in direct contact they are only then to stop and apprehend.

People can and should be in a position to do this and believe they can and feel they should instead living in the world ith the great Father God Government does everything for them.

Finally, this scenario and proposal is meant for an environment where this thing escalates and is happeneing all over the country. We'd best prepare for that now.

Sorry you have the attitiude you do ... hope you better appreciate and understand the proposal.

With my life, I only trust the people I know, and some of them I wonder about.

I am sorry for you.

Where do you live?

"...I'd much prefer a looser policy on concealed carry as opposed to deputizing a bunch of people and hoping the command and control disaster you're courting doesn't happen."

Concealed carry in Texas requires a very modest training requirement, Poohbah. The course can be completed in one day.

While I agree that any training requirement for concealed carry is an infringement of the right of self-protection, I'm suprised to see that you share my view.

Right now, in VA. I really don't care if you are sorry for me or not, we are talking about people running around with loaded weapons, and people getting killed.

The real terrorists will not be sastisfied with just taking a single shot! They will be opening up for maximum kill numbers! What then, Chief Moose? What then, D.C.? What happens when your LE rush to one spot for a mass killing, only to discover that another is occurring across town?

I think the silver lining in that horribly black cloud will be that the anti-gun position will crash and burn like the Hindenberg.

That could be someone just like you. Do you shoot him?

Only if he were shooting at me or another person.

I haven't shot a gun in years, but I can and I will.

It is harder to teach advanced courses to young studs who allready think they know it all....

I presume you know the story of the German forester near Bad Tolz who offered his services as a guide to the 7th Army Headquarters weenies when their maneuvers came to his corner of the forest. He was quickly dismissed, they had all the maps they needed, and besides, the U.S. Army had won the last war, and didn't need any help from any frickin' Krauts, he was told...

It might have rested at that... except a young American officer came bicycling through his area over the weekend, and they chatted for a while. Was the Herr Forster going to be involved in the coming exercises, he was asked...and when he admitted that he had offered his services and they were rejected, the young officer offered to bring up the subject with his commanding officer, Der Oberst. But he would be on the side of the American fallschirmjaeger and they would be outnumbered.... Not a problem, he told the American. He had been outnumbered before: at Eman-emmal, at Crete, and in Italy, at Monte Cassino...but hadn't done so badly. And, of course, he knew exactly where the *bad guy* headquarters was set up....

When the 10th group commander came to call, he brought along a set of GI fatigues with the nametags and *US Army* tag neatly removed...and the diving eagle of the German airborne forces added. And a soft green hat that was presented to their new comrade-in-arms, one just like theirs.

When they raided the HQ groups encampment, the old German had the time of his life. They'd given him the job of knocking out the stray jeeps and three-quarter ton trucks around the place and destroying the antennas and visible radio equipment. Happily the German had brought along his own rifle, though unfortunately it wasn't in the right caliber to use the blanks the Americans were using. But it was okay. He didn't need blanks.
