President Bush should welcome Joe LIEberman to the Republican Party, and challenge him to encourage his fellow Senators to join the President in enacting further tax cuts.

The President is the one talking tax cuts, and always has been. Nice to see at least one 'rat coming around to the right way of thinking. (Zell Miller exempted.)

>>>GWB is to the left of mainstream leftists on critical issues.

He is not!

What a ridiculous statement to make.

I guess you support Lieberman or Boxer for POTUS. LOL

Then explain this "larger than we can afford." line!

It's all just Demo double speak. If Bush's tax cut was "larger than we can afford" how can Lieberman's be of any use at all??? Bush's is barely detectable... You can't have it both ways.

Doesn't that mean that Lieberman needs to be calling for a tax increase to get the economy moving?

Wellstone actually made this arguement in his last debate with Coleman. UBFL if they re-elect that chump.

You mean he said 'affect' and NewsMax wrote 'effect'?
If they write for a living, they should do it well or not at all.

Clinton ran in 92 promising tax cuts. Then in February 93 announced that "he worked as hard as he could" [on the tax cuts] but not only could he not reduce taxes, he would need to increase them </biting lip>

...retroactively.

Lieberman's stock is rising in my book.

Tomahawk, don't be fooled. LIEberman now proposes "sweeping tax cuts" while at the same time blaming the Bush tax rebate as the reason the surplus is now gone....and then claims the deficit is causing long-term interest rates (i.e. mortgage rates) to rise (another lie--hasn't happened).

LIEberman is a McCain-style lying sack of manure--he's been falsely sold as "the conscience of the Senate" by his worshippers in ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN. All he's participating in is the usual pre-election "I'm really a Republican" masquerade Democrats try to pull in order to get elected. No, he isn't running, but he's a national figure now, and he's saying these kinds of things to help his slimey Dem brethren in the Senate who are up for re-election.

"Don't look now, but one of the Democratic Party's leading presidential candidates has just moved to the right of President Bush on economic policy and is now calling for massive, sweeping and immediate tax cuts "

Looks like Joe figured that the Gore\Liberal approach wasn't giving him much of a chance to get into the big chair.

LIEBERMAN (using Howdie Doodie /Elmer Fudd voice): "O-cray. Now which cup is my wittle bawl under? De left, de right, or de middle? Just waaatch de's cups and de bawl. Pray de game wit me. hu-hu-hu-hu-hu-hu.....".

Don't play Liebermans BS game. He is a socialist, leftist Democrat. Which is the only kind of Democrat left. Who believes in wealth distribution (except his), killing the unborn, using the race card and generally doing away with the parts of the Constitution that are a bother to them. And right now the only thing he wants is to keep the Dems. in control of the Senate.

Oh, Joe just wants to repeal the rest of the Bush tax cuts and replace them with something else more to his liking. That makes more sense. I don't see any new tax cuts here.

And I didnt read anything about making these replacement tax cuts effective earlier. To me just sounds like a way to make it appear that he's recommending something while eliminating the tax cuts already passed. Wouldnt be surprised when its over, there is money left for the Dems to spend, spend, spend.

[tax cuts].......retroactively.

That still gripes me to this day. Ex-post facto and all. Within another two years another ex-post facto law was passed, that anyone who had been charged or convicted of domestic violence could not legally own a gun. It had some serious effects, as some law enforcement personnel required to carry had domestic charges against them.

A friend of mine has a wacked out wife who called the cops on him one day (for a stupid reason, trust me) and she filed charges against him, which were dropped because he really didn't DO anything. He went to buy a new hunting rifle and was told no dice.

But I digress. The camel's nose is in the tent.

The stupid party has left their right flank wide open. The stupid party pretends that they must move left to compete. The stupid party has squandered an awful lot of opportunity to take leadership by failing to move right. Now they're being out-flanked. I say this is a good development. I don't care about the Republican party. I only care about america. I'm glad to see the democrats attack on the republicans' weaknesses.

In 81 the democrats controlled the house very strongly, they had something like over 60% of the members. the elite laughed at Reagan's big tax cut proposal when he first made it. He shocked them by getting a lot of democrats to vote for it.

When the democrats are pressed to move right, then they will do it if that's what's required to get elected. Without competition from the stupid party though they will not be pressed. George Bush is absent without leave on this issue and many others.

Bush and the country club republicans will not rule this country. Even when they face criminal psychopaths as opponents the best they can do is get a very slim majority that won't last.

I am amazed that some people have fallen for this spin. This man doesn't want tax cuts. He wants to repeal the tiny cuts which have been made and stop the rest which are scheduled to take place. He then wants to redistribute wealth from Republicans to Democrats. How people could fall for this is the main question. It shows that most people hear what they want to hear, and THAT is the problem.

Oh, Joe just wants to repeal the rest of the Bush tax cuts and replace them with something else more to his liking.

And then there was the piece where he was chirping about "we couldn't 'afford' last years tax cut", yet in the same breath was calling for acceleration of the remainder of the program.

Whatever. Bush should come out and hold Lieberman's feet to the fire on this by saying "Let's Roll, big guy... Good to have you on board".

Also -- prepare yourselves that if the Pubs do well in this election the Demons will make a significant right turn. It won't make them 'not' liberals, but maybe it will shut up (and get rid of) some of the most notorious communists (Daschle) and criminals (McAuliffe).

I've gained quite a bit of respect for Whiney Joe lately. First the Iraq resolution, now this.

Either the Dems are scared to death, are following a directive from Carville, or have smartened up. and as we can proven they never grow smarter...
