Shooting in Aspen Hill Reported

WHEATON(AP) -- A Montgomery County police 911 dispatcher has confirmed that a reported shooting is being investigated at Bell Pre Road and Connecticut Avenue.
This is in the Aspen Hill area of the county.

There is a huge police presence in the area and traffic is affected.

Traffic is completely stopped at Connecticut Avenue in both directions around the scene.

There is no word if the reported shooting has any connection to the sniper shootings in the Washington region.

Another Shooting in Maryland: Sniper Link Probed (CNSNews.com) - Montgomery County police confirm there has been another shooting in Aspen Hill, Maryland - a single shot fired around 6 a.m. at a bus stop on Connecticut Avenue, a major thoroughfare. Live television video showed a helicopter circling and a traffic stop underway. Local television reports said police may be in the process of closing a portion of the Capital Beltway, just as rush hour begins. More to come.

Here's what peach posted: Overnight news: The New York Post reports the shooter's 3 page letter left at the Ponderosa demands money in exchange for stopping the shootings. The shooting of schoolchildren is mentioned. A CNN report claims the shooter used voice-altering machine in yesterday's call to police.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) _ A person was shot in Montgomery County early Tuesday, but authorities said it was too early to tell if it was connected to the sniper who has killed nine people and injured three this month.

The shooting occurred near the site of five other sniper attacks.

Shooting in Aspen Hill Reported

(Rockville-AP) -- A spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire Department confirms one person has been shot in the Aspen Hill area.

Spokesman Pete Piringer says units were dispatched shortly before 6 a.m. to the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Grand Pre Road for a reported shooting on a Ride-On bus.

Piringer says one adult male victim suffered a "priority one chest wound." A medevac helicopter will be taking the victim to a local trauma center.

Piringer says he's been asked by police not to disclose which hospital.

He says it is his impression that the victim was found on the bus.
