I think they want to see where he'll call from again...maybe figure out where he is located. I wonder if this guy might have computer skills, ie. telephone hacking aka "phreaking". Could that throw off a trace?

No way. I hope they are smarter than that, but I don't know...

I believe most incoming calls to Law Enforcement agencies are recorded, along with caller ID.With all thats been going on in that area,I'd be really surprised if this call wasn't recorded, I hope Moose is just trying to sucker the suspect into a trace.I'd be even more surprised if anyone would fall for this.
I see a "plant" coming. Where someone dials that number on a cell phone, leaves it on and connected (possibly to a recording, but just dead air will leave a signal), and while LE swarms the traced area something happens miles away...

What made the two suspects in the first place?Err...The Moose had put $500,000 in the coin slot ?

...WHY would we deport illegal aliens??..........
Illegal aliens are illegal aliens. (I am scratching my head, trying to figure out what in the world this person is talking about).
If you are whom you tell us that you are you an Officer of the Court. Teaching our young folks about the laws of the United States, I have a big problem.
Illegal=Illegal, get them out of our faces, deportation is o/k by me, although, I tend tend to think that aa lot of FReepers, would request other things be done to them before deportation.
Do you want the case closed or our borders closed?
I have been wrong a couple of times in my life, hopfully, this will not be number 3. Tom

I just heard on the news that they are to be deported back to their homeland.I told my wife when those guys saw the weapons they must have thought they made a wrong turn and were back in Mexico.

Much policework depends on the bad guy being dumb, as most of them are, but this guy or these guys are apparently not. The longer this drags on the more it seems we aren't even in the loop. I find it hard to believe that one or two people can drive around and kill at will, any time or place with all the heat that's on, especially when you challenge them.
This has to be something big, and we may never know what.
I'm going with terrorism on this one( kicking back in armchair).

The events of today have been very confusing. Moose was giving his appeal on TV to "call us" early this am a few minutes after the cops had already bagged these 2 illegals. How could Moose know these weren't the snipers? Maybe the Richmond cops didn't want Moose to horn in on the credit so they didn't tell him about it or Moose is clueless.

DO YOU REMEMBER ONE OF FIRST MURDERS WITNESS said "Mexican descent in a white van">>HELLO! Just because there was no evidence yet, does NOT mean they are not connected. It's confusing, there were reports of the two Hispanic guys with the white van sometime back. Now they pop up again? And are released?

just being a "tad irritated is ok, OR YOU COULD JUST GET REALLY PO'D. I will walk in zig zag, stager, or somthing like that.
Your narative is getting close to what is going on here.
For some reason, I think that you are there and doing that.
Stay in touch, your coments are very informing.

Looks like the shooter outfoxed Moose & Co. Moose thought this would be just like the movies. The guy calls, they trace his call. SWAT teams swoop in and viola Moose for DC mayor!
Moose isn't quite up with times. The shooter probably called from a stolen cellphone, an untraceable hotmail account\stolen credit card via Net2Phone or, an overseas accomplice called.

And now Moose wants him to call back...as the message was garbled...and the press ran with it as the truth.

Thanks, and you are correct - you said in your earlier post to me that Freepers don't need to RESUME praying since they haven't stopped. Of course they haven't, my bad. :)
