I believe this entire election is going to be won or lost on turnout of the base and from what I'm seeing Republicans are in very good shape.

Consider this:

REPUBLICANS:

Patriots / Military - Motivated by Bush's support for the military and war on terror / Iraqi.

Pro-Gun - Motivated by the return of the Gun-Control spectre.

Religous Right - Motivated by attempt to take "God" out of the pledge.

"Political" Republicans - Motivated by Democrat dirty tricks; Lautenberg/Toricelli, Vote Fraud Etc.

DEMOCRATS:

Anti-Gun - Angry at Dem leaders for ignoring Gun issue.

Peacniks - Angry at Dem leaders for Iraqi Resolution.

Unions - No major labor issues to rally around -- many rank and file support war on terror, pro-gun.

Minority - No major "race card" issue to rally around YET (still two weeks for the Dems to invent one)

This site, will take you to the NRA-ILA endorsed candidates, for your state.

I must say I'm a little confused by some of the NRA-ILA's views.

My impression was that Jim Ryan was moderately (but definitely) anti-gun--not as bad as King George, but still not good; he merits a B+.

Jim Durkin does not receive an endorsement even though my understanding is that he's reasonably pro-gun (certainly much better than Durbin).

Joe Birkett receives an A despite his efforts to prosecute someone for carrying an unloaded firearm in a backpack, in a manner which is entirely permissible under state law.

Am I misunderstanding anything?
