I was working my way down the daily thread when events overtook my posting.

Isn't it possible that a person is reading one thread and responding to a post, and, during that time, another thread is started?

BTW, I've said that Moose is target of the shooter's communications since last week. That's why he's the face man for the task force.

The first Tarot Card communication was addressed to him. I think the shooter likes pulling his chain. He's comical and makes a fool of himself. He does not come accross has impassive and competent. I think this ties in with the shooter's utter contempt for the police.

As an ex-police officer and firearms expert, an AR-15 or a CAR-15 can be broken down in basically two pieces in a few seconds by removing one pin with the tip of a bullet. It is still OBVIOUSLY a firearm., therefore breaking it down in this matter would do nothing in the way of stealth. Even a civilian looking at the parts could I.D. it as parts of a firearm. Hope that helps.

A church or a hospital/clinic. Maybe he's gonna give himself up or maybe the "mystery note" was written by somebody who wants the big reward and also has a conscience after all, but they're afraid the sniper's gonna kill them next. Maybe the restaurant "call me" note writer is in hiding from the sniper. I'd like this to end.

The 37 year old man has lost so many vital organs, how can they put him back together again and I mean that in all seriousness. If he lives, his life is changed forever because he's lost his health.

As many Muslims as live in this country, there is probably a potential safe house with a garage in every dot on the map and in between.

I thought the same thing, too. This is also true about the school boy.

you didn't address that to me, but i was tempted to ask (rhetorically i suppose) just what it is that makes people either not search, or not care that there are already x number of threads going on a given topic ? sheeesh ...

AHHH egotistical assholes who think FR revolves around them??? I LOVE the FReepers that DEMAND and DIRECT what people can POST on threads...FR is some ways is getting WORSE than DU...

I don't play video games - I mean going back to the first tennis and pac man games. Sounds more than creepy to me. It's amazing that Tipper Gore (the one with the meds) was partly responsible for music having warning labels but video games don't have any warnings or restrictions for violence?

This game is likely at the mall arcade or kids can buy it for home use. If kids are playing this game, their parents aren't payin' attention imo.

I just tried the test...none of the three fell for it, not even Ricky Retardo(and he is REALLY STUPID)...they just looked at me from across the room.
My one pug, Butch is really smart(tricks and all)....maybe he's a mutant.

Well, MOOSE was the one going before the cameras giving this message..NOT the VA LEOs, ergo, the shooting there is CONNECTED to the sniper shootings.

What's ole Ted williams talking about when he says that ole MOOSE has a LEAKER in his team, and he hopes that the MEDIA will not release info they have been given???

The smartest dog I ever had was my two cats. I can order them around like they are employees in middle management. THEY ARE VERY SMART.

Dogs never liked me and so I grew to dislike them back.

"You can convert if you want, but you'll be on the losing side ultimately. "

Who said anything about "converting", whatever that is supposed to mean? I simply pointed out that OUR government had better make sure that OUR foreign policy is handled in such a manner so as to protect US. We the people come FIRST. Not some other culture or country.

I had to leave, just before the rolling 2 minute warnings that went on for an hour, for Moose's press conference, but I just have to say this. If there ever was a case study for why accurate English counts, this is it. Moose may have a soft Ph.D... in Urban Studies, granted by Portland State, but if one has a Ph.D., one should be able to, at least, communicate accurately. This is more an indictment of Portland State than Moose.

Maybe Moose was so INTENSE that he screwed up the "message". Shooter call the number that YOU left? Who is going to answer that number? 410 posted on 10/20/02 7:18 PM Eastern by kcvl

With Moose's 'Approximate English' who knows what he meant, including the Shooter...

i'm inclined to think moose just screwed the pooch on his message delivery .. 430 posted on 10/20/02 7:26 PM Eastern by valleygal

He did, but who can figure what was really intended, unless the Shooter uses Ebonics too?

And when the person DOES call, Moose will say (in my best Lily Tomlin voice), "Is this the party to whom I'm speaking?" :) 424 posted on 10/20/02 7:24 PM Eastern by tomkat

This is the funniest, saddest, and truest thing I have every read on FreeRepublic. Can we just turn the Press Conferences over to Captain Demme and save ourselves some time and more importantly, some residents.

No real comments from me. Who knows what the people in the van tried to do, refused to do, or what?

Possibly the handcuffing was to prevent suicide bomb detonation should the person be the perp and have explosives on his body or in the car.

This is the fault of the terrorists and the position they are putting the law officials in.

Sorry, I knew that, and could practically hear you saying it. It was so appropriate, sad, and true.
