D.C. KILLERS: TERRORIST CELL?

October 18, 2002 -- A NON-STOP frenzy of psychological profiling has been gushing out of televisions, newspapers, and magazines since the start of the "Sniper Killings" in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., earlier this month, producing in almost every case a rather too pat portrait of a killer (or perhaps two) who are white, in their 20s or early 30s, have military experience, enjoy exercising the god-like power of life and death, and are alienated from society.

As a matter of interest, I went over to the Home Depot (Falls Church VA) yesterday to take a look.

So did I!

Believe not the self censored media or sandbagging officials, believe your own gut and eyes and logical, reasoning brain!

Thanks angkor.

Everyone without exception believed the shooter had used the school parking lot, and they had thought so since the moment they first heard of the shooting on the news.

Thanks for sharing your inspection of the scene of the crime with us angkor.

...that is why we practice common Freeper Courtesy and park our POVs and do our looking around ON FOOT, so as to not help create a groundswell in support of voting for tax hikes in No. VA for additional traffic relief, proposed by lib Dems and RINOs here....

Numerological nonsense. There is no way to plan the survival of someone shot in the gut with a .223.

does that mean that they did not search that school parking lot or surrounding area on Monday PM/Tues AM?

Actually, they did not.

My wife and I sat from 10PM until 2AM watching the live news coverage.

Several times, there were live shots broadcast from the school parking lot, which was being used by the newsies to park their crew vehicles. I clearly recall one shot being a drive from one end of the lot to another, the camera was pointed at the opposite mall parking lot, but you could see newsvan after newsvan parked in the school's lot. Other live shots from the mall itself - acorss the street - were pointed at the school lot, and this confirmed that 10 or more newsvans had setup in the school lot.

There was no obvious LE presence at any time that I recall, except for the one instance where the LE with bloodhound dashed all the way from the mall, across Rt. 50, to the school lot.

"I am tired of listening to these former so-called "profilers" or phorensic "experts" babble about their theories.

Me too--know what did it for me? FNC Alyson Camerota's info-segment yesterday of her awkwardly wielding an AR-15 at a local Firing Range...it's just a fill in for the absence of news and facts.

sandbagging officials,

This is the most irritating thing. Anyone with eyeballs can deduce that the school lot is the more logical source of the shot.

And my brother saw a similar situation near the Sunoco station in Manassas (a darkened alley or road between two buildings across Rt. 234 from the gas station).

So why is LE not telling the public to "Keep an eye open for suspicious vehicles parking in darkened areas across from malls and gas stations"? Even "If you hear a shot, look in the distance for vehicles leaving darkened areas".

How about some preventative measures based on forensics and observation, rather than these post-murder observational skills? Is it some huge investigative secret that LE knows where the shots typically come from?

Very annoying.

Sniper's victim was moving to new home :

"She was outstanding employee. She worked very hard throughout her career. We were very proud of her. We wished she were here now," said Gary Bald, special agent in charge of the FBI in Maryland and Delaware.

Does that sound like somebody who was working in a different department?

Another citizen on the scene said there was no investigation of the lot all day Tuesday, he had driven by a few times during the day.

What do you think of this?

He/They have gone to ground for now.

I still believe the FBI lady, Cyber operations analyst was a target. He took more risks to get her when tension was high. Tinfoil, maybe, but coincidences are risky to take at face value in a terror environment.

Downside of a deliberate hit idea is that you would probably hit a federal employee of some kind in the area even by chance.

But, then, why did the shooter not take out her husband; a far bigger target? And easier if he was targeting at random.

Would help to know if they were together or he was on the other side of the car. In that case, this theory probably doesn't hold, but if he was with her on the same side of the car or loading stuff in the back....but the idea of cyberanalyst working on counter terror shot dead....

Sorry, I just don't see anything unusual here.

If this was a coincidence, it was an incredible coincidence. What must the odds be?

So, are you saying that you believe they did work in different departments? Don't reporters go to supervisors for that sort of statement?

I don't understand the mentality. Life without change is boring. Change makes life interesting.
