>>>Someone PLEASE tell me this teacher is now walking an employment line!<<<
I heard this story about 8 or 10 times on TV this morning. Each time a little different, once I heard the reporter say that the teacher is still with the school, but her name is not being released to protect her privacy...

A 10 and 11 year old would only know about this type of horrible act if they themselves were exposed to it in some way.Don't you dare excuse their behavior that way! I don't care if they were "exposed" to it somehow or not! They've got some kind of responsibility here! Their parents have some kind of responibility here!
Next you'll try to tell me that the 10 and 11 year old animals who were part of the mob that murdered that man in Milwaukee were "exposed" so they should get a slap on the wrist.
Right from wrong is learned from day one. They're old enough to know better, period. That's half the problem in public school now. Everyone is so damn worried about "being exposed" to things and how to handle it.
This five year-old's parents are right: Sue the hell out of the school, the school system, the principal, the teacher the parents of the older kids and anyone else involved.

I disagree, not extreme at all. In fact, freeper12's plan sounds like a waste of a good large sack to me.

Who's making an excuse? I'm stating fact. The age of these kids should know nothing about this type of behavior unless they've been exposed to it. If they did it they should be punished but, also counseled. There parents or guardians should also be investigated. Something is very wrong in the home life of these two boys.

It's unconscionable that this happened to him, but it's equally unconscionable that a school would allow it to happen. Allow it? They WANT it.

Unfortunately, these two will no doubt end up in the juvie system until they are 18, and will burden the taxpayers with prison terms the rest of their lives. They have recidivist written all over them. Scum.
DITTO!

Yeah, hey who's to say the teacher isn't queer -- what's the motto: Eight is too late!

Sex before eight,
Or it's too late!

Ha There's no other institution that resembles a prison as much as many of our local public schools...complete with gangs, thugs, rapists, druggies, child molesters, etc. AND, the "inmates" are in charge.

that still won't solve the problem... where do you think the problem kids go? to private schools. I know, I attended a private Christian school and 20% of the students were kids that were kicked out of public schools!

I just have one problem with your post. Right from wrong is taught from day one by whom? Most 10 year olds don't know anything about this unless they have been exposed to it, but you don't think that whoever was exposing them to it was telling them it was wrong, do you? Something like, "I could get in big trouble for doing this to you, but don't tell." The line of "knowing" right from wrong it a little blurry at that age, especially for one who has been told it is not wrong. And why would they believe it was wrong when the teacher was defending them? Most five year olds can't resist telling someone that they are going to tell on them. Then, after the boy presumably told on them, nothing happened. What are they to think?
I'm not saying that any of this should result in the problem being ignored, but someone should be finding out what was going on in the lives of these boys then making judgments as to what to do about them. If they had been victimized themselves, they may yet be redeemable. Is everyone's desire for vengence so strong that they would rather see two children dead than reformed? Being exposed, in and of itself, has little to do with the situation. Being told that it is not wrong, does. If their parent have told them that it is not wrong, how are they to know? Who should children believe when they are given conflicting answers, their parents or the teacher?

Probably egging them on..

The truth is obvious. Their nuclear gene pool needs a bit of chlorine!

OF course things were better 40 years ago! Things like that still happened, but the "average" child did not have his childhood raped with knowledge such as oral sex and homosexual acts. I was a 1st grader 40 years ago, and I was completely innocent. I'm sure the majority of my classmates were too....that does't mean that some were not molested or raped like you. You bet. My wife and I have had to explicity talk about homosexuality with our two young teenage sons. Why? Because homosexuals have made a huge public stink about the Boy Scouts in our town - because ALL of the Catholic schools in my area have been hit with homosexual molestation issues involving priests and deacons - because TV is full of full bore homosexuality - even on 'family' shows now. Geesh! I want my sons to have a chance to develop their normal sexuality first before having to be exposed to highly perverted, dangerous and filthy sexuality. The upside is that when we described the repeated anal rape of boys by a priest in our Catholic school system, our boys were on the verge of puking. That's good. If we have to talk to them about this stuff (we unfortunately do), we want them to know the truth about it.

that still won't solve the problem... You are right..I went to a private christian school too and we had our lemons. But a bad day at a private school is better than a good day at a public school
