It amazes me how often in the past couple weeks we are reading articles that slam the Christian right for either their "deceptive/destructive" support of Israel or their willingness to call a spade a spade with regard to Islam...while at the same time we are still being PC-ed to death on the idea of "religion of peace."

That's because it safe (and PC) to knock Christians but criticizing Islam could earn you a death threat (and they have been known to carry them out).

It is wild that Bali got car-bombed by zealous Muslims and he's scurrying to fret about Christians.

Just for the purpose of accuracy, let's be clear about terms here. "Humanism" originated as nothing more than an educational process in Europe during the fifteenth century A.D. (approximately) and refers to the revival of the classics, the Greek and Roman works, in literature, art, politics and almost all aspects of learning; it contrasted with the stringent, technical movement known as "scholasticism" which had dominated western thought for hundreds of years before. "Humanism" was the movement underlying the Renaissance. By itself, the term today has adopted some secondary connotations, mostly dealing with individual dignity, worth and reason, hardly evil concepts.

What you're referring to is "secular humanism," that philosophy which has overrun most college campuses and preaches a nontheistic, anything goes sort of approach to religion and morality. I don't disagree that secular humanism is a threat to any real intellectual and religious dialogue, but "evil" is a very strong word; anyway, that people use the terms interchangably has often times irked me.

Standard tricks in leftist moral-equivalence handbook:

• set up false dichotomy between a mass murderer (Osama) and a guy who says politically incorrect stuff (Graham, Falwell)
• say early on that you're not trying to diminish outrage about mass murdering or belittle the danger, then use the word "but" and proceed to do just that
• try to impress your readers by using the word "Manichean" in there somewhere (journalists must've received a memo about this overused word back on September 12)
• toss in faux-authoritative quotes from a few no-names who wrote books that you happened to read, as if anyone cares what "Andrew Delbanco" or "Gershom Gorenberg" (whoever the heck they are) have to say about anything
• offer no solution to the problem you pretend to be pointing out, only vagueness ("unless we are not careful"... what does that mean? How should we be "careful"?) Remember, the goal is to confuse, muddy the waters, and deflect fears from Islamic maniacs onto marginal TV evangelist personalities (and Christians in general).

I don't consider Mr's Falwell and Robertson's eschatology and retoric the finest in the world, but to suggest that they are to blame for the evil deeds of Islam is simply ridiculous.

The author fails to consider the men and women who are really "fanning the flames" for Christ: those who believe on Him and come out of Islam, even though they face persecution and death, those who stoke the flames with their bodies and their blood. For these "zealots" of Christ pay with their lives often- though they have little of the trappings of "popular" American Christianity, the retoric of Mr Falwell. For simply bearing the name of Christ they are hated- not for any words, even, against the Prophet, or violence- no, simply for believing in Christ! Are these men and women dangerous fanatics? Perhaps! For with Christ comes liberty, and peace. These "zealots" do not use bombs, or rifles, or weapons of fear- but, to those who hate them, they are far more dangerous than all the bombs and bullets in the world. The love of Christ- for those even who hate Him and His followers!- trumps the violent, and is dangerous indeed to the darkness. If theirs is fanaticism, I should hope I would be called a fanatic for Christ also!

I don't know about demon podsessed, but every other statement is clearly true.

I can't give you a citation, but I believe that somewhere in the Koran (or other Muslim
writings), Mohammed did something either really questionable or radically reversed
course in some part of his philosophy...
his said that the only way this could have happened was that he must have been possessed
by a demon.
(Sounds more like he was just a politician of Toricelli proportions doing spin control!)

Oh well, the Muslims had to be turned away from the gates of Vienna as recently
as September 11, 1683...I guess we shouldn't be suprised that given their
