(What he is really saying....)
"Mr. Speaker, only AFTER Iraq explodes a suitcase nuke in center city Memphis, or finances and aids those who did, THEN we should go to war with Iraq. Only AFTER Iraq successfully contaminates large populations in the United States with biological agents, or finances and aids those who did, THEN we should go to war against Iraq. Only AFTER Iraq kills large numbers of US citizens with chemical gasses, or finances and aids those who did, THEN we should go to war against Iraq."
- John Duncan (R) TN
Thanks a lot, John. Good plan.
You must be so proud!
I guess I'll keep company with the 'unpatriotic' Americans like George Washington and John Quincy Adams. you know, the kind of people who urged the U.S. to avoid involving itself in foriegn disputes and wars.
Who is Adolph? Is he the one that advocated peaceful neutrality, or is he the one that kept making demands on foreign countries until one finally resisted and he could go to war?
Tell me, what is it that you personally get out of placing American troops in the Middle East? Why do you want your tax dollars funding the overseas deployment of American soldiers, particularly when this deployment stirs up local resentment and attacks against those troops and our civilians back in the States by militant mystics?
History has demonstrated Washington's admonition should not have been taken lightly. American efforts to buy peace between Israel and Egypt, in addition to efforts to maintain the local balance of power by engaging a 10+ year war against Iraq have succeeded only in gaining us enmity in the region. The billions of dollars spent have now resulted in thousands of innocent American lives lost. For what? Why are we there? Is the reason that U.S. troops are there is because some dictator requested help from the president? Excuse me, what are our troops for? Defending pissant dictators the world over, or defending the Constitution of the United States?
I've yet to see a cogent explanation for American military deployment to this region. I've been called names, etc. but none of the cheerleaders for the American Empire can explain why they're so for this. I'm sure not having to be on the front line in a chem. suit makes it easier to shake the pom poms.
