Is that the "I KEPT THE LIGHTS ON!" speech or has he lost it twice? Thats the one but there was one with the SF Chomical editorial where he stated it was the job of the lawmakers to carry out his agenda. Senator Johhny Burton turned three shades of purple. (the color of his constituents)

Have you heard Simon talking about tax cuts? I wish he would talk a little bit more about cutting taxes. Probably this is the wrong time, given the hay that the Davis camp would make out of it in a record budget deficit year. At least he's said he'd oppose raising taxes, which is something that Davis hasn't ruled out (for obvious reasons).

I do wish Simon would bang on Davis more...That will certainly get him more votes from the San Francisco area. LOL

Morris may in fact be correct, but if you consider his actual track record with predictions in the past couple of years, it stinks. The only reason Morris is saying this is because he knows it is the only thing that gets him TV, radio, and newspaper appearances. If Morris was doom and gloom for the Republicans, he would be persona non grata on the conservative media circuit. He doesn't give a sh*t about the candidates, it's all about Dick.

"Yeah, it's like mailing platinum credit cards to everyone on food stamps." What the hogs slopping at the trough can't get through their heads is that business NEVER PAYS A TAX, and they will pay for it with higher prices and rent and wind up with a lower standard of living.

My heart is healthy since I lived and voted in CA for thirty years. I have not seen the postings from out of state Rino's whom you refer to. I for one read CA threads for hope and to cheer other Republicans on. My son still lives in CA (Humboldt where there is not much hope).

Okay, I thought the letter was different from that story. Now I'm straightened out. So then this Nathanson letter may never see the light of day prior to Nov. 5th. Bummer.
But thanks for the info!

Nathanson Letter: "...an old criminal case against disgraced former state Coastal Commissioner Mark L. Nathanson."
"He went to prison in a bribery scandal disclosing that he had sought payments from individuals with business before the commission."
"As part of a bid for leniency after his indictment in 1992, he offered to provide information to prosecutors about alleged misdeeds by a "high political figure," according to letters his attorneys provided to prosecutors."
"The letters became part of the court file, but U.S. District Judge Lawrence K. Karlton ordered them sealed..."
"The judge must release the documents "forthwith and promptly" after receiving notification from the 9th Circuit..."
And who will be revealed as the "high political figure?"; none other than former assemblyman and current governor "Dim Bulb Davis!"

The only problem with the toe-sucker's analysis is that it is the same story he told during the Hillary-Lazio campaign in 2000. And, as I recall Hill was only up about 3 points (like 46-43%) on Lazio in the late summer/early fall going into the infamous (how dare he invade her space) debate. After the debate little Ricky imploded and got smoked by 56-44% on election day, even though polls still showed her up by only 5-7 points on the eve of the election. Gore clobbered GWB in NY state by 60-33% and probably helped Hill sweep in with the 12 point margin.
So, it remains to be seen if Dickie's analysis will be accurate for the Simon-Davis race?

Re#32 The one and only. And it will involve actual crimes. If a 30 year old DUI mattered for W, then so be it. Hehehehe...

I don't trust Dick Morris that much--he had a rapist for a boss and probably knew about the rape.
But he's been right about A LOT of things lately. He predicted the outcome of the New Jersey election farce EXACTLY.

I absolutely hear you on this point, Sabertooth. It's one of the most important issues of the election, incalculably more important than whether Davis accepted contributions in the State House or not.
I think Simon feels that corruption is easier to explain to the voters. And Freepers seem to agree; the protest signs I have filmed are overwhelmingly hammering on the "Davis is corrupt" theme, even though the real news story is that he's running our state straight into a black hole.
I would like to see more signs that talk about Davis' management problems, such as the delightful "Davis can't run California, so why should we trust him to run California" theme. I did love the signs about the power crisis ("Got power?", etc) and think we should make a few more.
How about "Black Hole Davis", with the vortex of money being sucked into the state budget, never to be seen again?
I hope I don't seem presumptuous making these suggestions as someone who has never hoisted a sign in protest. But I have made my pictures and videos of Freeper events, so I've probably spent more time looking at what we've done than most.
Republicans generally turn out in greater numbers than Democrats, which is why we have had numerous Republican governors in this supposedly heavily Democratic state. Combine that with likely apathy on the Democratic side due to a strong dislike of their candidate, and I see this election eminently winnable for Simon, regardless of all the bizarre sideshows.
Despite all the mud being slung, I don't think anyone who's met him or seen him in the debate seriously questions Simon's integrity and competence. You will note that Davis didn't sling much mud in the debate, because he knew it wouldn't stick with Simon live to rebut him.
I am puzzled by all the "Simon is bad" stories, which I think is a major reason why "Simon is dead" stories get so much reaction. Those of us who've seen him in action know he's an excellent candidate. The basic problem with the campaign is not him personally, but the huge disparity in resources between him and Davis. This makes it very difficult to get the message out - but even with that difficulty, the Simon campaign and Davis missteps have managed to make this race basically a dead heat -- even though the media constantly says it's an easy Davis win.
Now think about what we could do if we were just a tad better at sticking together! I think that if we all unite and make sure we all vote, we can win this thing against an opponent even the left hates.

I think people here don't understand quite how bad Davis is thought about here, even by Dems. I said this on another thread that my brother, who is basically apolitical told me that he registered this year to vote. He said he only did it to vote AGAINST Davis. He thinks Davis' TV campaign against Simon is outrageous. He's voting against him on that alone. Then there's this whole Latino thing. If Simon wins, it'll be because everyone hates Davis so much. That being said, I still think Davis will squeak this one out.
