This is no different than the time when the media took DAYS to mention condit was a democrat. (The network media never say left wing extremist.)

They also are painfully aware that the public stands behind Bush on protecting our country from foreign threats. If this turns out to be a foreign threat then it makes all the democrats ignorant and short sighted by their own words and actions (60's peacnick wacko's.)

Since, the media told the terrorist and the public last week that our school children were now the target of Islam, the terrorist cannot make them liars. Either that or ,if it is a white male ,he is trying to throw them off on their thinking.

Wow, look at the Oct 3 killings they are almost uniform in spacing. at least 15 min no more than 45. The odd oct 3 killing is a 72 year old man.

The first three are similar in age.

It is like a laundry list. Killing one from a different group. Middle age men, women, old men, children.

The times seem to suggest mobility. the question is mobility alone or a seperate wheel man. (the media reporters of mental midgets)

2 teams, 1 driver 1 shooter in one vehicle.
1 cover team in the second vehicle.

If LEO close on the sniper team, cover team turns it into a furball.

I've said from the beginning that this nut is hunting people. He looks at them the same way you or I would look at a deer. I don't think he has an agenda....he's just trying to see how many people he can bag before he gets busted. The guy gets a thrill out of stalking and shooting his prey, much as a big game hunter gets his thrill. Frightening.

I would look hardest at site 7 if they think a serial killer could be involved.

Serial killers start near where they live or work or are otherwise very comfortable, before spreading out more as they feel more confident and want to get out from under the heat.

Look at 6, 7 and 8. It looks like the shooter wants to move out a little. But something that happened at 7 scared the crap out of him. He moved back to 8 for the last one. Still further from 1 than the others (or maybe the center point of 1 2 and 3). But still close enough to be comfortable.

I would be willing to bet that someone saw the shooter in the area around 8, well enough to get a good ID. They just don't know it, haven't connected it with the shooting. Possibly encountered a driver going the wrong way down a one way street because he didn't know the area, maybe someone agitated asked someone for directions. Maybe somebody had a small fender bender, and found out the guy that hit them gave them bad name and insurance info.

I bet there was either a close call in his escape caused by unfamiliarity with the area, or someone there saw him, had a conversation with him or something. Enough to spook him about being too far from home.

On another note, which of these were outside Michael Craft stores?

Yes, I remember. They also hide in the hills along a highway in Israel, calling it the "highway of death." They assassinate travelers/commuters, on a daily basis, until the Israelies "occupied" the hills. :) I believe these assassins were Hamas in orgin.

Personally, I am leaning away from this scenario for several reasons.

First, he chose a school for his latest hit. That is out of character of the other more random sites. That says to me he has an agenda beyond just killing.

Second, the last two shots were body shots while the first five were head shots. He must have known there was a good chance the body shots weren't kill shots, especially after the first one.

Third, he/they seem committed to escaping. They also appear to be reacting to the situation by moving and slowing down the attacks based on police activity.

Bottom line is, like everyone else, I really don't know and I am just speculating.

no reason to, millions of bolt action rifles were sold without transfer papers

Yes, they could. My Swedish Mauser was made in 1900 and I use it in competition out to 600 meters. I doubt that this shooter is using a 100 year old gun because most of the cartridges that shoot the recovered bullet have a much smaller head, meaning a smaller bolt face. The action length of the old rifles is also much longer than needed for most .224 bullet rounds. A exception would be the .22-250, which uses the standard Mauser case head of .473 inches. This is a very high speed round mainly used for hunting varmints as large as coyotes out to about 400 yds.

I just find it journalistically unfathomable that the media does not ask serious questions. What are they even teaching information / question gathering in journalism school?

I thought J-School today was all about feelings of self worth and getting along with folks who want more money for their programs.

My retired Military friends have speculated if the assassin starts taking shots from 750-500 foot range, then he most likely was trained by our Military. They said the Marines, Army, FBI train some top notch snipers. They said the CIA used to train some high class assassins. Among the players now, Israel trains the best. Their discussion centered on talent. This is only their opinion, could have just been hype, could be midnight delusions. LOL. I overheard them discussing this last night. :)Since we are all speculating here, thought I'd toss this into the mix, see what others think. :)

I'm not certain what I said came out right. They in no way think it's one of our guys doing this shooting. They think it's a terror group. They were thinking the shooter isn't good enough to have been trained by our Military.

If he lived there, it sure helped his mobility (is that the right spelling?) cuz he knew the area well enough to escape detection. But..it didn't dawn on me that he could have gotten 'spooked'. I'm bookmarking your post cuz I think it's going to point to something in the future.

Oldvike, your post #148 sums up the way I feel about the shooter.

He is hunting, that seems to be the pattern. Clear and easy shots. Goes on about his business after that. Probably lives alone and has a job that requires he drives a Utility van. Doesn't work on weekends.

He's crazy, and we can't rationalize crazy.

I have been thinking about this as well. Keep in mind that after the Thursday spree and all the police activity, he/they went South into Virginia on Friday. The shooting there wasn't until 2:15pm, which may indicate he/they drove down on Friday morning. I have a pit in my stomach as we enter the afternoon. With all the activity since yesterday, it may be he/they are out of town this morning. If he/they are looking for a new direction, Route 66 to the West is a possibility. I really hope I am wrong.
