Does anyone have inside contacts with the FBI or Justice Dept? It's probably one of those "open secret" things, where they are just trying to keep people calm. My husband used to have contacts with the FBI but they've all retired around the time my husband did from CT State Police.

Would you check nearby firing ranges?

Were I a LEO local to the scene, I cannot imagine not checking nearby firing ranges. There is probably only a small number of them relative to the total number of businesses so I would imagine that the investigation potential payoff to cost ratio would be fairly high, and if authorities did not check, people might criticize them for not doing so.

However I would not expect to get anything useful myself. I don't expect these guys to be local and they probably bought their guns and ammo and practiced with them elsewhere. Otherwise, they are less intelligent than they have been exhibiting to date-- imho.

What I might consider is opening the sweep of local low cost motels (HoJo, Motel 6, etc.) to a large "donut-shaped" area with the shootings roughly in the concentric center. I would start with the large chains and then cover smaller mom-and-pop motels. What I would look for is a credit card number or description of one to three guys, ages approx. 20-32, who moved between hits from one motel to another somewhat further away but still inside the "donut". I would focus on credit card moves over the weekend. If nothing turned up, I would focus inside the donut area, and if nothing turned up still, I might consider somewhat higher-class places such as Mariotts.

If I am right, that check ought to turn up something.

First of all, I think the victims and their survivors might not want to be identified, maybe out of fear.

Secondly, since all this started less than a week ago, we don't know whether the absence of shootings during the weekend have any significance at all.

Thirdly, I think your governor with the strange name needs to say a few words to the people, too.

6 killed by sniper in Maryland in last week. This morning a 13 year old boy was shot as he was being delivered to school by his aunt. He's in critical but stable condition. Some reports have stated the firing came from as far away as 75 feet. Police believe it's linked to the other 6 sniper attacks. Another woman is in the hospital from last week. That's 6 dead, 2 seriously injured. No descriptions, no info on car that's good info. Feds have gotten involved.

None, although I think the 13 year old boy is African American, and told my husband I was surprised an Arab would shoot a minority kid. Husband didn't agree with me (as he often doesn't - sigh). But then, he's way smarter than I am.

I sure can... and a lot of us here have been saying it for days. I sure hope this has moved into Homeland Security hands. No matter who turns out to be responsible, they need to dive into this. Even if this is not Islamic terrorism, those terrorists can sure 'go to school' on this attack. It has exposed a glaring area of vulnerability that can be exploited.

Don't blame you at all. I always want the hot news and I want it now and not wait for Fox or others to get around to it. The evening shows don't exactly show "breaking news" sort of stuff - it's all prearranged interviews, etc.

On the news a couple a months ago was reported on some residing here in the US, that were arrest because they were in Afganistan with the terrorist, but let go because they were only there to learn how to use fire arms?
